Samuel Henderson Hughart was born July 11, 1917 in Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Hamilton Isaiah & Annie Marie Braden Hughart. He married Opal Demaris Miller November 8, 1947 at Pontiac, Oakland Co, Michigan.

Sam registered for the military draft October 16, 1940 at Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar. He enlisted in the US Army May 13, 1942 and states on his enlistment papers that he had completed 1 year of high school. His civil occupation was "Unskilled occupations in laundering, cleaning, dyeing, and pressing apparel and other articles." He served until November 8, 1945.

Samuel Henderson Hughart passed away January 30, 2008 at Greenwood, Arkansas. His burial was in Liberty Cemetery there.

Samuel H. "Sam" Hughart, 90, of Greenwood passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, in his home. He was born July 11, 1917, in Greenwood. He was an Army veteran of World War II, retired from Civil Service at Fort Smith Federal Building, a retired dry cleaner at Day & Nite Cleaners in Fort Smith and a member of First Baptist Church in Jenny Lind.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Demaris Miller Hughart; a daughter, Torie Moore Luper; a grandson, Samuel Todd Turnage; four brothers, Melvin, Clifford, Frank and Eldon Hughart; and three sisters, Lucille Morris, Catherine Curtis and Eva Mae Horton.
