Joel Kent Holland/b> was born March 2, 1928 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Carl Wesley & Nan Eli Bellamy Holland. Joel graduated from Fort Smith High School. He played football and basketball there and was Vice President of his Senior Class. Joel married Rose Kathleen Campola. in Philadelphia, Penn. Their license date was July 19, 1950 per The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia, Penn. July 29, 1950. Joel registered for the military draft on March 4, 1946 at Fort Smith, Arkansas. Joel served aboard the USS New Jersey in 1947. "USS New Jersey and the Korean War" - Returning to the Atlantic, New Jersey conducted a training cruise to northern European waters for US Naval Academy and NROTC midshipmen in the summer of 1947. In 1948 Joel was attending the US Navy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island.
