Charles Scruggs Hayes was born October 16, 1913 at Barling, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Charles Casel & Mary Olive Bullington Hayes. April 4, 1946 he applied for a marriage license for his marriage to Ruby Marie Lovett in Sebastian Co., Ar. At that time most license' were applied for the day of the marriage. Charles registered for the military draft at Belle Point School in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. This is the only draft card I have found with no date. His residence at that time was Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. He enlisted in the US Army August 26, 1941 and served until September 17, 1945. His final ran was Sgt. Charles passed away December 7, 1996 in Sebastian Co. His residence at that time was Booneville, Arkansas. His burial was at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ar.
