Robert Smead Grubbs

Robert Smead Grubbs was born October 6, 1926 at Norfork, Baxter Co., Arkansas to Roy Smead G. & Thelma Nadine Arnold Grubbs. No marriage record has been found for him although on the 1950 Hot Springs, Garland Co., Ar. census wife is Mary S. age 19 with one son Robt S Grubbs, Jr.

October 9, 1944 Robert regisytered for the military draft at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co. Arkansas. He enlisted in the US Navy January 12, 1945 according to his biography below. A discharge date has not been found. He served on the USS Marcus Island, a Casablanca-class escort aircraft carrier, the most numerous type of aircraft carrier ever built, to replace heavy early war losses. Robert Smead Grubbs passed away October 21, 1988 with his burial being in Ebenezer Cemetery at Ebenezer, Calhoun County, Arkansas.
