Halton Howard Gordon

Halton Howard Gordon was born July 24, 1922 in Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Robert Lee & Ida Beulah Plunkett Gordon. December 20, 1941 he married Janelle Carter at Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar., both being residents there.

June 30, 1942 Halton registered for the military draft at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. He enlisted in the US Army January 23, 1943 and served until January 4, 1946. Nothing else has been found about his service.

Halton Howard Gordon passed away June 10, 1991 at Greenwood, Sebastian Co. and was buried in Evans Cemetery at Excelsior, Sebastian Co., Ar.

618TH ENGINEER COMPANY

The 618th Engineer Equipment Company, soon redesignated the 618th Engineer Base Equipment Company, was activated 25 May 1943 at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana and engaged in training there for the remainder of 1943.
New Guinea
- In February 1944 the 618th arrived in New Guinea. They operated around Milne Bay, on the SE end of Papua New Guinea. Inactivated 15 January 1946 in the Philippines.
