James "Jim" Gamble

James "Jim" Gamble was born February 1, 1910 in Jenny Lind, Marion Township, Sebastian Co., Ar. to John William "Will" & Effie J. Mizell Gambel. February 26, 1933 he married Sylvia Hazel Skipper, both being residents of Jenny Lind, Sebastian Co., Ar. On the 1910 and 1930 census his name is listed as Burl or Bearl....not Jim or James. The birth and parents are correct on those census records. Those names are found no where else.

October 16, 1940 Jim registered for the military draft at Jenny Lind, Sebastian Co., Ar. His draft card has a note that says he had an honorable discharge. The Veterans Affairs BIRLS Death File shows what is apparently his re-enlistment in the US Army October 23, 1943 ending on December 8, 1945. Jim was a coal miner and completed 1 year of high school. Nothing more is found about his service.

James Gamble passed away January 2, 1987 in Sebastian Co., Arkansas with his burial being in Steep Hill Cemetery there.
