James Irvin Wilson Flake, Sr. was born February 2, 1918 in Coal Hill, Johnson Co., Arkansas
to Alexander Valentine & Mattie S. Sandlin Flake. February 13, 1942
he married Nell Bernice Hasler, both residing at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.
October 16, 1940 James registered for the military draft at Fort Smith, Sebastian
Co., Ar. His residence was Lavaca, Big Creek twsp, Sebastian Co., Arkansas.
May 13, 1942 he enlisted in the US Army at Camp Josepth T Robinson. He states
he has completed 4 years of college and his occuption is Teacher, secondary school.
He served from May 12, 1942 until January 15, 1946. His final rank was 1st Lt.
