Lawrence was born October 6, 1924 at Altus, Franklin Co., Ar. to Jacob William & Theresia Maria Glanzmann Elser. January 15, 1949 he married Agnes Flegel from Altus. His residence was Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. at that time. Lawrence enlisted in the US Navy October 13, 1943 and served until January 15, 1946. Nothing more is found about his service. Lawrence passed away April 6, 2010 at Barling, Sebastian Co., Ar. His burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. ============================= Lawrence "Larry" Elser, 85 of Barling passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010. He was born in Altus, Arkansas on October 6, 1924 to the late Jake and Theresa Elser. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and retired from Sears after 38 years of service. He was a minister of the Eucharist and made visits to those who could not attend Mass. He was a past member of the Parish Council, and the Knights of Columbus and was a past councilman for the City of Barling. He was preceded in death by his sister Catherine hall and his brother Charles Elser.
