Class of 1943 Flight School & Leadership Training - 2nd Lt James was born in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. to James Thomas, Sr. & Thetis Bonita Nuckols Dyer. September 7, 1949 he married Evelyn Giles. They divorced in 1962. James registered for the military draft June 30, 1942 at Fort Smith, Ar. He was a student at the University of Arkansas at that time. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps with plans to be a pilot. He finished his college degree in Florida while in the service. No discharge date has been found. He was still in the service in 1962.
