David Barton Dowdy
1907-1988
David Barton Dowdy was born August 1, 1907 in South Sebastian Co., Ar to
William Emmett & Daisy Mae Booth Dowdy. June 15, 1933 he married
Lavonia Mae Benge of Lubbock, Texas. His residence was Huntington, Sebastian
Co., Ar. where they were married.
Barton enlisted in the US Army Air Corps April 4, 1942 and served until Januay 31, 1946.
His final rank was Captain. Nothing more is found about his service.
David Barton Dowdy passed away February 1, 2000. His burial was in Lovelae
Cemetery at Witcherville, Sebastian Co., Ar.

Mr. David B. Dowdy of Huntington, Arkansas, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Dowdy was 96 years old. He was a retired AIR FORCE veteran of World War II,
where he reached the rank of Captain. After the war, he became a farmer.
Mr. Dowdy was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by one daughter: Shirley Dowdy, of the home; a son: James Dowdy, of
Poteau, Oklahoma; a sister: Jessie Mae Russell, of the home; a brother: Gene Dowdy,
of Roland, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild;
other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at Fellowship Baptist Church in Witcherville, Arkansas.
He was laid to rest at Lovelace Cemetery in Witcherville.
Pallbearers were: James Don Dowdy, Billy Mack Dowdy, Timothy Womack, Glenn Davis,
Carl Albertson and James David Dowdy.
