Arnold Thomas Dewey 1926-2016

Arnold Thomas Dewey was born November 22, 1926 at Flippin, Marion Co., Arkansas to
Jordan Amosey & Nancy Emeline Burris Dewey. He married Reba Jean Ray
of Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar. September 30, 1944 in Franklin Co., Arkansas. His residence at that time was
Barling, Sebastian Co., Ar.
Arnold enlisted in the US Army January 11, 1945 and served in WWII, the Battle
or Okinawa, 1 April until 22 June 1945 where 12,500 American men were killed or missing
and then the Korean War.
Arnold passed away February 6, 2016 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. with his burial being
at Oak Valley Cemetery, Lavaca, Arkansas.

Arnold Thomas Dewey, of Lavaca passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, in Fort Smith.
He was born Nov. 22, 1926, in Leslie to the late Jordan Dewey and Nancy (Burris) Dewey. He was 89 years old.
He grew up in Flippin and then in his early adult years moved to Lavaca, where he spent the rest of his life.
After retiring as a master plumber, he loved to work in his garden, raise cattle and horses and build things for others in his shop. He loved to listen to bluegrass and gospel music. Most of all, he loved his family and Lord Jesus Christ, his savior.
Since the early fifties, as a member of the First Baptist Church of Lavaca, he served in many capacities including Sunday School teacher and deacon. He loved his country and served during World War II, both in Okinawa and Korea.
He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his five children, Reba Jean Ray Dewey; and four brothers, Everett Dewey, Archie Dewey, Bob Dewey, and Aaron Dewey.
He is survived by two sons, Tom Dewey and wife Kendra of Lavaca and Philip Dewey and wife Gail of Farmington; three daughters, Charlotte Billinger and husband Jeff of Dallas, Deborah Brinkley and husband Phyl of Maumelle and Karen Fielder and husband Larry of Guy; one sister, Thelma Blomquist and husband Roland of Flippin; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Lavaca.
Burial with military honors will be at Oak Valley Cemetery, located south of Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
