William Ivan Dedmon

William Ivan Dedmon was born October 13, 1926 in Mansfield, Sebastian Co., Ar. to
James William & Letha V Nolen Dedmon. September 20, 1947 he married
Dorothy Jean Givens at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. where they both resided.
William enlisted in the US Navy October 17, 1944. He served until
June 19, 1946. He is found on only 1 Navy muster roll aboard the USS
Filimore, a Gilliam-class attack transport, launched January 4, 1945
that served with the US Navy during World War II. Commissioned late in
the war, she was initially assigned to transport duties and consequently
did not participate in combat operations.
No earlier muster rolls for William have been found.
William Ivan Dedmon passed away March 24, 2003 in Riverside, Riverside Co.,
California. His burial was in the Riverside National Cemetery there.
