John Willis Clement was born February 11, 1904 Olmstead, Pulaski Co., Arkansas to Joseph Cyrus & Sophia Ella Geary Clement. September 5, 1923 he married Rena Alma Kidd in Crawford Co., Arkansas. They were both residents of Sebastian Co., Arkansas.

November 11, 1942 John enlisted in the US Navy. He served until September 19, 1945. He enlisted again January 8, 1951 and served until June 14, 1952, serving in WWII and the Korean War. His occupation was "barber" and he later owned John's Barber Shop in Fort Smith.

John Willis Clement passed away December 7, 1986 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma. His burial was in New Hope Garden of Memories at Oklahoma City.

John W. Clement, 82, of Spiro died Sunday, December 7, in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was a retired self-employed barber, a Navy veteran of World War II and Korea, a member of First Baptist Church of Spiro and V.F.W.

Funeral was 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 10, in Spiro First Baptist Church. Burial was at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Rena; a daughter, Shirlene Mitchael of Spiro; a son, John L. of Benton; three sisters, Sallie Clements of Cabot, Vicie Moss of Van Buren and Venie Morden of Jacksonville, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were John Redwine, Dean Harper, Stearl Nelson, Gerald Blankenship, Robert Dickinson and Gil Howard.
