John James Burt was born January 21, 1923 at Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Connie Corlie & Icie Lee Lucas Burt. July 19, 1952 he married Thelma F. Eubanks in Los Angeles Co., California. They divorced June 1969 still in Los Angeles. John registered for the miitary draft January 30, 1942 at National City, San Diego, California. Nothing more is known about his service except for the Hon. Disch at the top of his draft card and his marker in the National Cemetery below. John passed away March 13, 2017 at Mulberry, Crawford Co., Ar. His burial was in the National Cemetery at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. ------------------------------- John J. Burt, 94, of Mulberry died Monday, March 13, 2017, at his home. He was born Jan. 21, 1923, in Lavaca. He was an entrepreneur and a Navy veteran. Burial of ashes will be at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren. He is survived by a daughter, Valerie Begakis of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; a son, Eric Burt of Torrance, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
