Vaughn Damon Beach was born September 5, 1922 in Center Twsp, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Romulus Horatio & Elizabeth Florence Thames Beach. The family lived in Eagle and Center Townships. His wife was Ann Langston although there haven't been any records found for the marriage or where she was from.

Damon enlisted in the US Navy September 10, 1942 in Little Rock, Arkansas and served until July 19, 1946. While serving he was assigned to the LST 780. An LST was a "Landing ship, Tank". These ships were first developed during World War II to support amphibious operations by carrying tanks, vehicles, cargo, and landing troops directly onto shore with no docks or piers. This enabled amphibious assaults on almost any beach.

Damon's last rank was Lt jg. Only one muster record has been found for him and it is at the bottom of this page, date August 7, 1944. He served as a Communications Officer. Any other information that was found for his service is in his biography below.

In 1948 he was a student at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Ar.

Vaughn Damon Beach passed away November 24, 2004 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo, New Mexico. His burial was in Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas, Dallas County Texas.
