Robert Paul "Paulie" Jones was born October 7, 1895 at Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Robert Marion & Nancy Hester "Hettie" Philen Jones. April 11, 1917 he married Dorothy Chism at Oklahona City, Okoahoma Co., Okla.

Robert registered for the military draft June 5, 1917 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma. His enlistment date is not known.

Robert passed away February 16, 1919 at sea on a transport ship of Influenza. His burial was in Rose Hill Burial Park, at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma.

2/23/1919 Soldier Dies on Way Home to City (Sunday) While on the U.S.S. Mercury, returning to America from France, Paul R. Jones of 128 E. 2nd street, contracted pneumonia and died before reaching Newport News. The body arrived last evening and was met by his wife who lives at 128 E. 2nd street, and his father, Robert M. Jones of Greenwood, Ark., three brothers, J.L. Jones of Fort Smith, Ralph P. Jones of Hackett City, Ark., Talmadge Jones of this city, and two sisters, Mrs. Luna Coleman of Fort Smith, and Mrs. Leila Morgan of Charleston, Ark., Mr. Jones enlisted last year in Oklahoma City and sailed for France from New York, August 31. The hour for the funeral services will be announced later.

2/24/1919 Funeral Here for Soldier Who Died Aboard Transport (Monday) Funeral services for Paul Jones, soldier and member of the fire department, were held yesterday afternoon in the First Methodist church. Jones, while returning home from France, died aboard a transport when the vessel was only two days out of the harbor. He was a member of the artillery branch of service, and had escaped being wounded while on the battle front in France. Fourteen honorably discharged soldiers, all members of the fire department escorted the body from the church to an undertaking parlor where it will be held for burial in a mausoleum in Rose Hill cemetery. As the body was being taken into the undertaking parlor, three volleys were fired Jones is survived by a widow. He entered the fire department service in June, 1916, and at the time of enlistment in the army, in June, 1918, was attached to fire station No. 2. A brother, Talmage Jones is a lieutenant at Central fire station.

8/2/1919 OBITUARIES The body of Paul R. Jones, formerly a member of the 54th ammunition train, who died of influenza on his way home from France, February 16, was moved from the vault at Fairlawn cemetery to the Rose Hill mausoleum yesterday morning. (THE OKLAHOMAN)
