John Warren Foster
1921-1944


John Warren Foster was born August 11, 1921 at Stanley, Oklahoma to John Jefferson & Rebecca Florence Conley Foster. August 14, 1942 he married Zeta Mae Dedman both of them living in Mansfield, Sebastian Co., Ar.

John registered for the military draft February 16, 1942 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. He enlisted in the US Army September 15. 1942 at Little Rock, Arkansas. He states he has a grammar school education and is a farm hand. A Hspital Admittance Card is found saying he was admittted to the hospital in February 1944. He died of "Heat, Excessive, Exhaustive Effects of" in the line of duty.

John Warren Foster's final resting place was the National Cemetery at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co. Ar. from daughter Cheryl Ann Helms.
"I'm not sure of the exact date of her and dads marriage I think it was right before he left for boot camp they were together in Flagstaff for several months, up until he shipped out for overseas in Nov. of 1943 at which time she came back to Arkansas, he was stationed according to records somewhere in the south Pacific near Queensland, Australia. When he was wounded he was taken to the hospital there where he died 2 weeks later in Feb of 1944 he was then buried in Ipswich Aus cemetery near Brisbane, until his body was returned for burial here in Fort Smith in April of 1949, as I was born in June of 1944 I never knew him except for what I heard from my mom and grandmother who thought a lot of him."
