On this 13th day of July 1880, personally appeared before me, Deputy Clerk of a Court of Record in and for the County and State aforesaid, Amanda Blythe a resident of Hackett City in the County of Sebastian and State of Arkansas aged 41 years, who, being duly sworn, makes the following declaration, in order to obtain the Pension provided by the Act of Congress approved July 14, 1862: That she is the widow of Daniel Blythe who was a private in Company I commanded by Dewite C. Hopkins in the 1st Regiment of Ark. Cav. Vols. In the war of 1861; that her maiden name was Amanda Wood and that she was married to said Daniel Blythe on or about the 2nd day of September 1858 in the County of Sebastian and State of Arkansas by Joel Boothe and that she knows of no record evidence of said marriage except that of which a true copy is hereunto (?).
She further declares that said Daniel Blythe her husband, died in the service of the United States aforesaid at home in the State of Arkansas, Seb. Co. on or about the 10th day of October 1865, of fever. She also declares that she has married since the death of said Daniel Blythe and that she has not in any manner been engaged in, or aided or abetted, the rebellion in the United States; and she hereby appoints Chas. Geo. A. King, of Washington D.C., as her lawful Attorneys, with power of substitution, and authorizes them to present and prosecute this claim, and to receive her petition certificates. The following are the names and dates of birth and places of residence of all the children of her deceased husband who were under sixteen years of age at the time of his death:

Also personally appeared before me, P.J. Medlen and John Truelove residents of Sebastian County and State of Arkansas to me well known as credible persons, who being duly sworn declare that they were present and saw said Amanda Miller sign her name to the foregoing declaration, and that they have every reason to believe, from the appearance of said applicant and their acquaintance with her , that she is the identical person she represents herself to be, and know that said deceased recognized said applicant as his lawful wife, and that she was so recognized by the community in which they resided; and that they have no interest, direct or indirect, in the prosecution of this claim. John Truelove now being a resident of the Choctaw nation.

You are respectfully requested to furnish official evidence of the enrolment, muster, service, duty, and discharge or death of Daniel Blyth, who was a Corporal in Company I, 1st Regiment of Ark. Cav. Vols., reported died Oct., 1865.
If the above name is not found of the rolls of said Company, will you so state, and report as to enrolment, etc., in the case of any man bearing a similar name, whom you have good reason for believing to be the soldier inquired for.
Please, also, to furnish any evidence on file that may enable this Office to decide whether the soldier's death resulted from injuries received or disease contracted in the service and line of duty.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt from your Office of application for Pension No. 272572, and to return it herewith, with such information as is furnished by the files of this Office.
It appears from the Rolls on file in this Office that Daniel Blythe was enrolled on the 10th day of Feb., 1863, at Fayetteville, Ark, in Co. I 1st Regiment of Ark. Cav. Volunteers, to serve 3 years or during the war, and was mustered into service as a private on the 31st day of August, 1863, at Springfield, MO., in Co. I, 1st Regiment of Ark. Cav. Volunteers, to serve 3 years, or during the war. On the Muster Rolls of Co. I of that Regiment, from enrolment to June 30th, 1864, he is reported present. July & Aug. 1864, on D.S. escorting ammunition train. Sept. & Oct., '64 absent as scout since Aug. 30, '64. To Feb. 28, 1865, same report. Mch. and April 1865, present. To June 30, 1865, same report. Mustered out and discharged with company Aug. 23, 1865, at Fayetteville, Ark.

(Cavalry) Vols., personally came before me, a Deputy Circuit Clerk, in and for the aforesaid County and State, Nancy Wood, of Hackett City, County of Sebastian, State of Arkansas, who I hereby certify is a respectable and credible person, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to the aforesaid claim that her age is 67 years, and she was well acquainted with the family of the above-named soldier during his lifetime; that on the 16th day of July, 1859, at Sebastian, State of Arkansas, the wife of said soldier was confined and gave birth to a female child which was subsequently named Melissa Jane. That the applicant herein, Amanda Miller, then Amanda Blythe, was living at affiant's house and she, affiant, was present at the birth of said child and knows said applicant herein to have been, (at that time to be the wife of said Soldier Daniel Blythe).

Miller, of Sebastian County, State of Arkansas, who I hereby certify is a respectable and credible person, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to the aforesaid claim that his age is 46 years, and he was well acquainted with the family of the above-named soldier during his lifetime; that on the 7th day of April, 1861, at Sebastian County, State of Arkansas, the wife of said soldier was confined and gave birth to a female child which was subsequently named Nancy Ann. That he was at that time living within about 400 yards of said soldier's family and saw them almost dayly for some time before, during, and after said confinement. That he is well acquainted with the facts and circumstances connected with the birth of said child although not personally present at the birth.

That he was at that time living within about I mile of said soldier's family and saw them very frequently about the time of said confinement. That the wife of said soldier, (said Amanda Blythe) was living at his house, about 5 or 6 weeks before the birth of said male child, and that he saw said family frequently soon after the birth of said child.

Declaration for Pension for Children under Sixteen

On this 6th day Oct., 1886, personally appeared before me, a Clerk of a Court of Record, in and for the County and State aforesaid, Ely Blythe, a resident of Hackett City in the County of Sebastian, and State of Ark., aged 20 years, who, being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration, in order to obtain the pension provided by the acts of Congress for children under sixteen years of age: That he is one of the children of Daniel Blythe who enlisted under the name of Daniel Blythe in Co. I, 1st Reg't, Ark. Cav. Vols. In the war of 1861, and died of army diarrhea or flux, at Sebastian Co., Ark., on the 10th day of October, 1865; that his death was the result of his military service aforesaid; that he left a widow surviving him who remarried on Mar. 20, 1876; that the following named are the only survivng legitimate children of said soldier who were under sixteen years of age at the time of his death; that said children were the issue of said soldier as follows, the dates of their birth being as hereinafter stated:

Ely, born on the 10th day of Apr., 1866, by Amanda Blythe
That the father was married under the name of Daniel Blythe to Amanda Wood, at Sebastian Co., State of Ark. On the 2nd day of Sept., 1858; that the said children have not aided or abetted the rebellion; and that a prior application for pension has been filed by widow No. 272572, and he hereby appoints Charles & William B. King, of Washington, D.C., his lawful attorneys, with full power of substitution and revocation, and authorizes them to present and prosecute this claim, and to receive the pension certificate; that his residence is Hackett City, County of Sebastian, and State of Arkansas.

In the matter of the Claim of Ely Blythe, son of Daniel Blythe deceased, late of Co. I, Reg't 1st Ark. Vol., personally came before me, a Circuit Clerk, in and for the aforesaid County and State, Charles E. Miller, who, I hereby certify, is a respectable and credible person, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to the aforesaid claim, as follows:
Nancy A. Blythe, daughter of Daniel Blythe deceased, by his wife Amanda Blythe now Miller, died on the 7th day of September in the year 1880 and further that said Ely Blythe claimant herin is now the only living child of said Daniel and Amanda Blythe who was under sixteen years of age when his mother remarried. These facts I know of my own personal knowledge and acquaintance with the parties.
He further declares that his post office address is Hackett City, County of Sebastian, State of Arkansas, and that he is not interested in said claim or concerned in its prosecution.

Vol., personally came before me, a Circuit Clerk, in and for the aforesaid County and State, Fanny A. Stalcup, who, I hereby certify, is a respectable and credible person, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to the aforesaid claim, as follows:
I am well acquainted with the applicant Ely Blythe and his mother Amanda Miller, and knew Nancy A. Blythe in her lifetime. Nancy A. Blythe died on the 7th of Sept, 1880 and I further state that said applicant Ely Blythe is the only child of said Daniel and Amanda Blythe who was under sixteen years of age at the date of his mother's remarriage.
She further declares that her post office address is Fort Smith, County of Sebastian, State of Arkansas, and that she is not interested in said claim or concerned in its prosecution.

In the matter of the application for restoration of pension of Amanda Miller former widow of Daniel Blythe, Co. I, 1st Ark. Cavy.
On this 1st day of August, A.D. 1907, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public in and for the aforesaid District, duly authorized to administer oaths Alfred M. Miller aged 66 years, a resident of Poteau in the Central District of Indian Territory whose Post-Office address is Poteau Indian Territory well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to the aforesaid case as follows:
I knew Daniel Blythe in his lifetime and at the time of his marriage to Amanda Wood whose present name is Amanda Millerand while they were living together. Daniel Blythe lived near what was then called Hickory Grove, but what is now called Hackett in Sebastian County Arkansas. I do not remember the exact date of his death but my recollection is it was in September 1865. That is my recollection but I am not certain as to the date. I met him as they were taking him home sick from where he had been, and then I helped bury him and was present at his funeral. I have forgotten, if I ever knew, what was the matter with him. I remember the circumstances of his death and the burial, but I am not sure about dates. He and his wife lived together from the time of their marriage until his death.
I further declare that I have no interest in said case and am not concerned in its prosecution.

Gay (N.P.) in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths Carrie Elms aged 56 years, a resident of Cameron in the County of LeFlore, and State of Okla. whose Post-Office address is Cameron well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to the aforesaid case as follows:
I Carrie Elms is personally acquainted with Amanda Miller. I have known her since childhood and further know that Amanda Miller married Daniel Blythe & lived with him until his death. I further know that Amanda Miller was never married again until she married John Miller & I further know she has never married since John Miller died. I further know she was never divorced from Daniel Blythe or John Miller.
I further declare that I have no interest in said case and am not concerned in its prosecution.

On this 15th day of November, A.D. 1907, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths J.C. Stalcup aged 56 years, a resident of McAlister in the Central District of Indian Territory whose Post-Office address is McAlister Indian Territory well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to the aforesaid case as follows:
I am personally acquainted with Amanda Miller, widow of the late John Miller, and former widow of Daniel Blythe of Co. I 1st Ark Cavry. And have known her for about thirty years. I rendered service for the said Amanda Miller as circuit clerk in the County of Sebastian, Ark., in reference to procurring a pension as the widow of Daniel Blythe. I was present at the death and burial of the said John Miller. He died Oct. 23, 1904, at Wilburton, Ind. Ter., and was buried the following day. I know that the said Amanda Miller has not remarried since the death of said John Miller, and while I did not know the said Daniel Blythe, I know that the said John Miller married the applicant as to being the widow of Daniel Blythe.
I further declare that I have no interest in said case and I am not concerned in its prosecution.

On this 18th day of December, A.D. 1907, personally appeared before me, Wm. J. Hulsey, Notary Public, in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths, a resident of Hartshorne, in the County of Pittsburg, and State of Oklahoma, whose Post-Office address is Hartshorne, Oklahoma, well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declares in relation to the aforesaid case as follows:
I am well and personally acquainted with the applicant, Amanda Miller, and know of her financial standing, and know that she is possessed with no property and has no annual income outside of that she might receive for her manual labor, and that she has not remarried since October 15th, 1904, the date of death of John Miller, her late husband.
I further declare that I have no interest in said case and am not concerned in its prosecution.

It is hereby certified that in conformity with the laws of the United States, Amanda Miller formerly widow of Daniel Blythe who was a Private Co. I 1st Regt. Arkansas Vol. Cavalry is entitled to a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month, to commence on the twelfth day of July, 1907 and to continue during her widowhood. Renewal under Act March 3, 1901.
Given at the Department of the Interior this Third day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eight, and of the Independence of the United States of America the one hundred and thirty third.

On this 5th day of Aug., A.D. one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public within and for the County and State aforesaid, E.G. Blythe, aged 53 years, a resident of Hartshorne, County of Pittsburg, State of Oklahoma, who, being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain reimbursement from the accrued pension for expenses paid (or obligation incurred) in the last sickness and burial of Amanda Miller, who was a pensioner of the United States by certificate No. 227024, on account of the service of Daniel Blythe in Company I, 1st Regiment of Arkansas Cavalry. The pension was last paid to May 4, 1919.
Cause of death: Acute Indigestion; sick about one hour
Where death occurred: At claimant's house-Hartshorne, Okla.
Date of Death: June 15, 1919
Buried: Hartshorne Cemetery
