James "Jim" Cottington 1822-1901 James Cottington was born August 18, 1822 in Humphreys Co., Tn. to Levin and Mary Ann Tilghman Cottingham. James married Elizabeth Watson June 10, 1841 in Benton County, Tn. His second wife was Virginia D. Smith Williams Gully. They married in 1866, Benton County, Tn James, or Jim, served as a Private with the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He has muster records below.
