John Henry Canada 1843-1920 John Henry Canada was born January 9, 1843 in Cherokee, Colbert, Alabama to William & Elizabeth Norman Kennedy. He married his first wife Amanda Mellon Weldon there under the name John "Kennedy", his father's surname, January 19, 1865 in Shelby Co., Alabama. By 1880 he was spelling his surname as Canada which he used the rest of his life. By 1800 the family has made the move to Center, Sebastian Co., Ar. along with 2 of his grown sons and their families, all using the Canada spelling. His second wife was Sarah Frances Doran November 26, 1901 at Barber, Logan Co., Arkansas. John served with the Confederate Army in the Alabama Inf., Co., K. He applied for a pension in 1901. Nothing more if found on his service. John passed away November 21, 1920 in Hungtington, Sebastian Co., Ar. His burial was in the Huntington Cemetery there.
