To be united in your love,
and yet independent in your thoughts,
To be together in your hopes,
yet distinctive in your ways,
To be one in your dreams,
yet two in your strengths,
This is the blessing of marriage.

"Always share and learn to give and take . . . and go a bit more than half way."

Married Life
When I was young I use to think that married life would be
an endless round of kissing and having friends to tea.
Of mornings spending dusting and putting things to right
Then hours of lonely waiting until he came home at night.
But now I know marriage means infinity more
then kisses cakes and coil. It is life's very core.
It is tears and joys and sunshine. It is work and never fame.
It is babies bills and baking but it is him just the the same.

Bruce Herald, 3 April 1896, Page 4 Not Simply a Poet
"I understand that Tennyson was paid a half a dollar a word for his poetry," said the soulful poet to the hard-headed editor. Now you don't pay me any such price for my poetry." "I can hardly afford to pay you half a dollar a word for your verses," said the hard-headed editor "but I will pay you half a dollar a line for a short poem." Then the poet departed, and the next day returned with the following poem

True Love's Course.
John
Yearns,
Jane
Turns.
Eyes
Meet;
Love
Sweet!
Jane
Stops
John
Pops.
Both
Wed
'Nough
Said.

John
Mad,
Jane
Sad.
Both
Fight;
Sad
Sight!
Whole
Week
Won't
Speak.
Re- Course
Di-
Vorce.

The hard headed editor carefully counted the lines, and conscientiously counted out the money 16 dollars, remarking to himself I believe that fellow has got brains I thought he was only a poet." New York World.
