Powhatan Bridge This was the bridge that we paid a quarter to drive over. It had a "road house" on the east end--the town was on the west end of the bridge. I remember walking across it many times as a teenager. The governor & state bought it and made it a free bridge then there was a free ferry north of it. My father worked on the ferry. They were both used until after WW2 when the bridge was built at Black Rock. The bridge was started before WW2 but work was halted until the war was over. At this time it was all gravel roads.

Joseph's Store This is a store that was in Black Rock by or before I was born in 1926. The son is Dr. Ralph Joseph and the daughter is Imogene Snodgrass. My family lived by them and I grew up with Ralph and Imogene.
