The Fordyce Lumber Company was founded in 1890 by Dr. John W. Watzek, Charles W. Gates & Edward S. Crossett. The company was located in the city of Fordyce in Dallas County. As part of the creation of the Company, the Fordyce & Princeton Railroad Company was created in the same year. The 221 mile long railroad track was laid from the already created Cotten Belt Railroad System to the Fordyce Lumber Company Mill. It’s sole purpose was to haul logs for processing st the mill.
The Fordyce Lumber Company was acquired by Georgia-Pacific Company in 1963.
