Arch “Chevy” Craig, 79, of Sparkman, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 in Sparkman. He was born Jan. 2, 1931, son of Arthur and Maude Harris Craig in Sparkman.
He attended Sparkman Training School and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He was a self-employed contractor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lula Reed and four brothers, Hart Craig, John Arthur Craig, Harvest Craig and one grandson, Donnie Juniel.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Eva Taylor Craig; five children, Willie Craig, Eva Burks, and Archie Craig of Little Rock, Phillis Juniel of Bearden and Morrice McKenzie of Sherwood; two brothers, Lewis Craig and Oreadis Craig of Rockford, Ill.; four sisters, Lessie Rideout of Waterloo, Iowa, Vera Johnson of Rockford, Maureen Hughes of Sparkman, and Joyce Cook of Malvern, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Mr. Craig will lie in state in the funeral home Friday, noon until 5p.m. Family visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 26, 5 to 6:45 p.m.
The Service of Celebration will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at 1 p.m. in Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. J. L. Newborn officiating.
The committal and final resting place will be in Harmony Community Cemetery. Services provided by the staff at Williams Funeral Home, Inc.
Bearers of the casket will be Mark Hughes, Gary Wright, Johnical Craig, Calvis Craig, Anthony Scott, Rickey Ross, Terry Craig, and Larry Craig.
