Cornelia Anne (Dunn) Adams

Cornelia Anne Dunn was born 23 June 1852 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama and died 5 July 1941 in Dallas County, Arkansas. Cornelia was the 4th of seven children born to Caswell Madison and Emily (Meriwether) Dunn. Caswell Dunn was listed as a resident of Dallas County when he married Emily Meriwether on the 12th of April 1843 in Greene County, Alabama. This in spite of the fact that Caswell Dunn had been living in Alabama since the 1830's with his parents, Robert and Nancy Meeks (Robertson) Dunn and siblings: Wiley, Albert G., Lucinda, James W., William Edward, Frances A., Robert Alonzo and George Sidney Dunn. Most of Caswell's siblings also became residents of Dallas County.

Cornelia Anne Dunn married Singleton Adams on 1 Dec 1870 in Dallas County, Arkansas. The couple remained in Dallas County the rest of their lives farming and raised their ten children on the family homestead. In the early years they lived in the Manning area. Eight of the ten children remained in Arkansas. Only the oldest, Albert Sidney Adams and youngest daughter, Girtha Bell Adams (who married George Weaver), moved to Texas as adults. The eight who lived in Arkansas were James Franklin "Jim" Adams, Minnie Elizabeth Adams (married James Porterfield), Mary Lucinda Adams, Walter Ernest Adams, Fannie Irma Adams, Cornelia Catherine Adams (died young), Jesse Tompkins Adams, and John Quincy Adams.

Cornelia & Singleton; along with some of the children are buried at Atchley/DeLamar Cemetery; located near Manning.
