Clary Training School

The Clary Training School as known as "The Methodist Episcopal Church, South, Conference Training School." It was located at the foot of Chief Street, and was erected in 1888. Dr. Holderness, J. D. Dunn, the Hampton Brothers, G. C. Story, E. A. Acruman and others helped create this school. The school was part of the Little Rock Methodist Conference. Its cost aroud $10,000 to build, it included a two-story frame, with seven rooms and four instructors. Principal J. D. Clary, B. A., enables students to prepare for any Methodist college. There were 125 enrolled in 1890.
