Adams, James L - Sgt.
James L. Adams is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Adams and
husband of the former Elise Hart of Magnolia. Serving with
the National Guards. Sgt. Adams went to Alaska and the Aleutian
Islands in 194?. He received one Battle Star for the Battle
of Attu and received an honorable discharge September 1945.

Adams, Robert H
- Pfc. Robert H. Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Adams
of Magnolia, entered service July 1943. He received basic
training in Camp Wolters, Texas, sailed for New Caledonia
in Feburary 1944; was engaged in the battle of Phillippines
and wounded on Luzion, March 1945. He was transferred to
Divisional Band and was sent to Japan with the 25th Division.
Awards were the purple Heart, Combat Infantryman's Badge
and Battle Star for Phillippine campaign. |

Adkins, Eben E - Sgt.
Eben E. Adkins, son of Mrs. Guss Adkins and husband of the
former Marjorie Holland, entered the service in May, 1942.
He trained at Tyndall Field, Florida and is now on duty
at Elgin Field, Florida. Sgt. Adkins has been awarded the
Good Conduct Medal. |

Adkins, Milam, Jr - S
1-c Milam Adkins, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Milam Adkins,
Atlanta, entered the Navy in January 1943 and was classified
as a gunner. He received training in San Diego, California
before going overseas in July 1944. He was awarded
two Battle Stars while serving in Siapan, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. |

Ainsworth, James E - Pfc.
James E. Ainsworth, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Ainsworth,
Magnolia, entered the Army in July 1943. He received his
training at Camp Wolters and Camp Swift, Texas. After landing
in France on D-Day, his division traveled through Holland
and is now stationed in Germany. Pfc. Ainsworth received
three Battle Stars. |

Ainsworth, Whaley M -
G. M. 3 -3c Whaley M. Ainsworth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Whaley
Ainsworth, Village, Arkansas, entered the Navy January 13,
1941. He trained at Norfolk, Virginia, and later served
in the European and Pacific Theaters where he was awarded
nine Battle Stars. Now on duty at Los Angeles, California. |

Alcorn, Merritt O., Jr. - Lt. (j.g.)
Merritt O. Alcorn, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. M. O. Alcorn
of Magnolia, entered the Navy in 1943 and trained at Camp
Peary, Williamsburg, Va.; Camp Endicot, Providence, R.I.,
and Midshipman's School at Notre Dame, Ind. He was in England,
France, Belgium and Germany and was on the first boat to
return to England with wounded soldiers after D-Day. Awards
were the E.T.O. Ribbon and one Battle Star and the A.T.O.

Alden, Elton G - Seaman
1 -c Elton G. Alden, son of Mrs. Marzelle Alden of Taylor
and J.J. Alden of Denver, Colo., entered the Navy in September
1943. He received training at San Diego, California and
is now stationed at the Naval Air Station in Norman, Okla.,
in the Assembly and Repair Department. |

Alden, Ernest N - Sgt. Ernest N. Alden,
son of Mrs. Marzelle Alden, Taylor, and J.J. Alden of Denver,
enlisted in the Army Air Corps in October 1942. Sgt. Alden
trained at Moore Field, Nev., and Kearns Field, Utah as
teletype operator, mechanic and as a weather observer. After
serving seven months at New Guinea, he returned to the states
and received his discharge January 21, 1945. |

Aldridge, Henry, Jr - S 2-c Henry Aldridge,
Jr., is the son of Henry Aldridge, Waldo and husband of
Verna Lan Cooke. He entered the Navy on October 3, 1944,
and trained at U. S. Naval Training Station in San Diego,
California before going overseas. While on foreign duty
he served on many South Pacific Islands and is now stationed
in the Phillippines. Awards were S..P.C., and one Battle
Star. |

Aldridge, John B. Jr - S 2-c John B.
Aldridge, Jr., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Aldridge
and husband of the former Voncille Ware. Before entering
the service in 1945, S 2-c Aldridge attended school at Mt.
Vernon and was later employed at the Coca Cola Company.
He received his training in San Diego, California where
he is on duty at the present time. |

Aldridge, Otha - Cpl. Otha Aldridge,
son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Aldridge of Waldo, entered the
Army Signal Corps in December 1943. After receiving training
at Camp Kohler, California, he went overseas in July 1944
and since that time he has served in the Phillippines, Negros,
Luzon, and Japan. Honors received were the Phillippine Liberation
and one Battle Star. |

Aldridge, Ralph - Pvt. Ralph Aldridge,
son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Aldridge, Waldo, attended school
at Mt. Vernon before entering the Air Corps in September
1945. He is being trained for his duties at Camp Chaffee,
Fort Smith, Arkansas. |

Allder, Denton A - F-O Denton A. Allder,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Allder and husband of the former
Ida Tompkins of Waldo, entered the service in January 1943.
he served in the Air Corps at Maxwell Field, Alabama; Carlstrom
Field, Florida, and Gunter Field, Alabama. Flight Officer
Allder received his discharge May 1945. |

Allen, Lloyd Percy - Lloyd
Percy Allen, graduate of Stephens High, entered the Army
in 1944 and received training in Field Artillery at Camp
Chaffee, Arkansas and Camp Fannin, Texas. He has served
in England, France, and Germany since going overseas in
March 1945, and is wearing the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. and
Mrs. Lloyd Allen, parents, reside in Magnolia |

Allen, William H - Willliam
H. Allen, son of Mrs. J. D. Allen, attended Magnolia High
and N.Y.A. schools before entering the service in 1941.
After training at Coffeeville, Kansas, he went oversears
as a hospital aide and served in England with the 8th Air
Force for 16 months as an ambulance driver. He was awawrded
the E.T.O. Ribbon with six Battle Stars before being discharged
in August 1945. |

Allison, Dolton D - Sgt. Dolton D. Allison,
son of Shem Allison of Waldo, entered the Army on January
29, 1942, and received training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.,
before going overseas. He served in Alaska, Canada, Australia,
New Guinea, the Phillipines, and East India Islands. Sgt.
Allison was awarded a Marksmanship Medal and a decoration
for Pearl Harbor. |

Anderson, Edward McHahon - Lt. Edward
McMahon Anderson with the United States Naval Reserve, entered
the service in March 1942. He was a Legal Officer at the
Naval Station in New Orleans, La.; took amphibious boat
training at San Diego, California; and was Registered Publications
Officer and Legal Officer to Admiral Davis of the Staff
Phib. Group 13, serving in the Phillippines. |

Andrews, James D - Pvt. James
D. Andrews is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Andrews and
husband of the former Mildred Christie of Magnolia. Before
entering the Air Corps in June 1945, Pvt. Andrews attended
Parker Chapel High School in El Dorado, Ark. Received training
at Sheppard Field, Texas and is now stationed at Keesler
Field, Miss. |

Andrews, Robert G - S 1-c Robert G. Andrews,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Andrews, attended Magnolia High
School before entering the Navy in 1942. He received training
at Great Lakes, Ill., and went overseas in August 1944,
serving on several islands in the Pacific. He is now stationed
on Manus Island in the south Pacific Theater and has received
honors for the A. P. campaign. |

Anthony, Garland Jr - Lt. (j.g.) Garland
Anthony, Jr., is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Garland Anthony
and attended Bearden High School before entering the Navy
Air Corps in 1942. He received training at Corpus Christi,
Texas; N. A. S., Glendview, Ill., and is now stationed a
N. A. S., Columbus, Ohio. His wife, the former Melba Jewel
Franklin, resides in Magnolia. |

Arledge, Allen - Pvt. Allen Arledge,
son on Mr. Will Arledge, entered the Army as an engineer
in December 1942, and was trained at Camp McCoy. Wis.; Camp
Breckenridge, Ky., and served overseas in France, Belgium,
and Germany. He was a prisoner of the Germans for five months
but is now stationed at Hot Springs, Arkansas. |

Arledge, J. B - Pvt. J. B. Arledge, son
of Mr. Will Arledge of Magnolia, attended Philadelphia schools
and N.Y.A. school for one year. He entered the Infantry
in June 1942 and trained at San Francisco, Calif., and Tacoma,
Washington before going overseas in December 1942. Pvt.
Arledge saw action at Pearl Harbor and other islands throughout
the Pacific Theater and was awarded the A.P. campaign, Phillippine
Libertation and several Battle Stars, and the Purple Heart.
He was killed in acton on Luzon on March 30, 1945 |

son of Mr. Will Arledge of Magnolia, attended Mt. Vernon
and Union City schools before entering the Navy in December
1943. He received training at San Diego, California and
is now serving in the South Pacific. S 2-c Arledge is wearing
the A. P. Campaign ribbon and four Battle Stars. |

Arnold, Harris S - Pfc. Harris S. Arnold,
son of Mrs. Nettie Harris Arnold, Waldo was inducted into
the Army March 1943, served in Ordnance unit for nine months
in the European Invasion and then transferred to the ninth
army where he served through th Belgium Bulge; in England,
Holland, France and Germany. He was awarded the Good Conduct,
Bronze Star, E. T. O., and Battle Stars. |

Ashby, Charles L - S 2-c Charles L. Ashby,
whose wife is the former Juanita O'Rear of Magnolia, attended
Kilgor High school before entering the Navy Seabees on March
28, 1945. After receiving training at San Diego, Californina
and Camp Parks, California, he saw foreign service in Okinawa.
Awarded the A. P. C. Ribbon. |

Atkins, Willard - S-Sgt Willard Atkins
was inducted into the Army Service Command on June 3, 1941
and was trained at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and Camp San
Luis Ozispo, California. After serving in New Guinea and
Hawaii, Sgt. Atkins was presented the S. W. P. C. and given
a medical discharge on June 6, 1944. |

Atkinson, James Owen - Pvt. James Owen
Atkinson, son of Mrs. Maggie Atkinson of Magnolia, attended
Union Center Schhool before being inducted into the Infantry
in March 1945. He received training at Camp Robinson, Ark.,
and Fort Ord, California before serving overseas in Manila,
Luzon and the Philippines. |

Atkinson, Thomas C - Cpl. Thomas C. Atkinson,
son of Mrs. Maggie Atkinson, Magnolia, entered the service
in 1937. Served in Alaska until 1944 then sent to Ft. Bliss,
Tex., with the Military Police Detachment. Received the
Good Conduct ribbon, one Battle Star, Pre-Pearl Harbor and
the American Theater ribbon. Discharged, 1945 |

Aubrey, Ben Jett - Pfc. Ben Jett Aubrey,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey of Magnolia, attended Magnolia
high school before being inducted into the Army on June
1, 1942. Pfc. Aubrey served with the 1st Armored Division
in North Africa and Italy but is now on duty at Ft.Knox,
Kentucky. He is eligible to wear the Mediterranean Ribbon
with four Battle Stars and a Presidential Citation for services
on Anzio Beachhead. |

Awbrey, Malvin G - Sgt. Malvin G. Awbrey,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Awbrey, graduated from Atlanta
High and attended A & M College before entering the
Army in 1941. He received his basic training at Ft. Eustis,
Virginia and is now on duty at Ft. Dawes, Mass., as instructor
in searchlights. Sgt. Awbrey wears the American Defense
and Pre-Pearl harbor Ribbons. |
