Williamson Redford O'Neal was born 1839 in Choctaw County, Alabama, a son of Raiford and Nancy Raley O'Neal. He married Catherine McLeod in 1867 in Bradley County. He served with the Arkansas Volunteers, Company C, Ninth Regiment of Infantry from May 1861 to May 1865. He was the brother of Jann Williams Woodard's great-grandfather. He is buried in McLeod Cemetery near Banks, Arkansas.
