Stephen C. Woodard was born Oct. 30, 1830 in South Carolina. He married Mary Elizabeth Hairston who was born 1836 in Montgomery County, Alabama. He served in Company D, Portlock's Regiment, Arkansas Infantry from August 31, 1862 to 1865. He was mustered into service at Warren, Arkansas by J.H. Edwards. He died Sept 10, 1906 and is buried in Ebenezer Cem. near Warren, Ark. Stephen was the great-grandfather of Lathan Woodard.
