1915 SEARCY HIGH GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM
This photo, which appeared on the front cover of the 2006 White County
Heritage annual history, is the senior girls basketball team at Searcy
High School in 1915. The old Searcy High School is at left in the
background. The boiler room in the middle housed the boys rest room and the
girls rest room. At right is the old elementary school, which became the
junior high
This photo of the same team was found, along with the cover photo, in the
personal effects of Lucile Irwin Glass, mother-in-law of White County
Historical Society member Mary Lou Glass. Note there are eight players in
this photo but only seven in the cover shot. Compare their modest uniforms
(even hair bows) to the attire of today
