OPAL - Cadron Chapel Methodist Church School 1927-28

CADRON CHAPEL SCHOOL 1927-28 – This school was north of the Opal community and west of Stoney Point on Ridge Road. The school was in Cadron Chapel Methodist Church. According to Sam Holloway of El Paso, “There was no well at the church-school and students walked across the road to Mr. John Edwards’ well and got their water. When school was no longer held here the students went to Opal, Mt. Sidon and El Paso schools. Years later the church was torn down and the lumber used to add to Stoney Point Methodist Church. The Stoney Point Church was across the road from where the present-day church is now.” Holloway was unable to identify any of the students but said he knew Harston, Smith, Wells and Edwards children attended school here.
