Tree Rings Give Up Their Secrets The monthly spotlight will be on Dendrochronology when the White County Historical Society gathers Monday, September 24, at Harding Place, 801 South Benton in Searcy. A panel composed of WCHS president Tony Young, preservation chair Bill Leach and archeologist Scott Akridge will information obtained from recent Dendrochronological research in White County. What's Dendrochronology It's the dating of past events through study of tree ring growth. Working with a team from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Tony, Bill and Scott have studied tree rings in old logs at different historic sites in White County; Smyrna Church, Randall House and the Gordon log house at Pioneer Village. Now, our "ringmasters" are going to tell us what they discovered. The findings will surprise you. The meeting starts at 7. Bring a friend and join us!
