Old Kensett Cemetery

Kensett, Arkansas

This cemetery is located at the intersection of S.E. 4th and Luttrell streets in the city of Kensett. It is to the left of Kensett Cemetery, just inside the entrance. It was surveyed in April 2000 by volunteer Gerald Torrence for the White County Historical Society. Exactly one year earlier, Charles A. Yaerger, Kensett Chief of Police, had also prepared a listing of Old Kensett Cemetery. The information on the two surveys was compared, adjusted and combined to provide the original list. Leroy Blair, a Historical Society member, added eight names to the list after visiting the cemetery August 10, 2000. Chief Yaerger called the cemetery "well kept," and noted "several markers that are broken and weathered

unless restored will soon cease to exist," which is one reason for his survey.
