Mt. Zion Cemetery

Heber Springs, Arkansas

This cemetery was listed August 6, 2001, by Leroy Blair of the White County Historical Society who filed the following report:  “I have known of this old cemetery for several years.  It is located on Highway 337 about two miles southeast of the intersection of Highway 5/25 Bypass and Highway 337.  It is on the right of the highway in a small clearing.  It is fenced. When I prepared this listing, the cemetery had been recently mowed, probably with a bush hog, but was not cleaned around the graves.  I found 11 old funeral home markers that are unreadable and 37 graves marked with rocks with no information on them.  There are probably 50 or more depressions in line with other graves that I believe are unmarked graves.”

The Steward/Stewart listings were added in February 2004 by Society member Scott Akridge, who reported they “were all in one small area of the cemetery.”

If you have corrections or additional information on this cemetery, contact the White County Historical Society, P.O. Box 537, Searcy, AR 72145.
