Dogwood Cemetery

Griffithville, Arkansas

All the information on the following pages was collected and published by Leroy “Lee” Blair, Member Board of Directors White County Arkansas Historical Society This cemetery is located south of Griffithville near Dogwood Methodist Church. To reach the cemetery from Griffithville, at the junction of Highways 11 and 385, take McDonnell Road south for approximately two miles to Fletcher Ellis Road, then turn right and go about a half-mile to Dogwood Church Road. Turn left and go about a half-mile to the church. The cemetery is located behind the road. The newer sections are across the road from the church.

A listing was prepared in March 2000 by Tommy H. Treadway of the White County Historical Society. He found the cemetery “well kept and mowed.”

Leroy Blair, another Historical Society member, visited the cemetery October 24, 2000, and again in late 2002, adding several names and additional information to the list.

Following his return on January 26, 2007, he prepared a new list. “This time I compared the entire old list with how the cemetery is now,” he reported “I was unable to find several of the names that were on one or more of the old lists. I may have simply missed them. These are noted in the list.”

Blair also prepared this map showing sections and rows, and added this information to the list to make it easier to locate graves. He noted, “This is just a general idea – because some of the rows do not run straight and some do not go all the way across the cemetery. Row #1 is a short row next to the road on the north side of the church. Section A and Section B are across the road from the church.”
