This cemetery was listed by Leroy Blair of the White County Historical Society, who visited it January 8, 2003. It is located in
Independence County north of Hickory Flat, just across the county line. Part of the cemetery is clean and well maintained,
however Blair reported seeing stones in an area that is so badly overgrown with briers and vines, "it is almost impossible to see
what is there." He was able to read a single name "Mahulda" and a burial date of 1851on one of the stones in the overgrown area
(see photo at left). He reported at least 10 graves that were covered with slabs of rock and several other graves that are marked
by field rocks with no information on them ("It is overgrown so bad I cannot tell how many there are").
Blair provided the following directions to Mason Cemetery: "Take Hickory Flat Road north to Thomas Road and turn right; go to
Armstrong Road then turn left (north). Armstrong Road will lead into Independence County. The road to the Cemetery I believe, is
the first road that turns left after you cross the county line. The cemetery is located in back of a pump station. (There are so many
small roads in that part of Independence County it is hard to give directions – would be best to ask some one who lives there how
to get to the cemetery.)"

I will be posting more burials later. The Searcy Daily Citizen donated all their Micro Film and Ledgers dating
back to 1953. After reviewing them, if I find a death of a person that we do not have I will to add to the
cemetery listings.
There are some graves listed as unmarked that may have had a tombstone set since the listing was made.
I may have missed some graves when I prepared the listing. Some cemeteries are very hard to get an
accurate listing due to how some graves are scattered
