The Tomboy and The Poet, a silent movie filmed in the fall of 1974 in White
County will be shown for the first time in many years d

uring
the August meeting of the White County Historical Society. The screen play
was written by the late W. E. “Skinny” Orr, a charter member and past
president of the WCHS, who at the time was the White County School
Supervisor. The director was Jackie Stewart, who at the time was teaching at
Pangburn High School and is recently retired from the White County Central
School. The actors for the production were the 1975 Seniors at Pangburn High
School. The setting includes the Pioneer Village, at that time located at
the White County Fair Grounds, as well as scenes from Pangburn, Bald Knob,
and Ten Mile Creek.
Mr. Stewart will introduce the movie which lasts
approximately one hour, and be available for discussion after the showing.
The public is invited to this unique event which will be at the regular
meeting of the WCHS, 7:00 pm, August 22, in the Dining Room of Harding
Place, 801 S. Benton Street, in Searcy.
