Program Notes -August 2011
The Tomboy and The Poet, a silent movie filmed in the fall of 1974 in White County will be shown for the first time in many years during the August meeting of the White County Historical Society. The screen play was written by the late W. E. “Skinny” Orr, a charter member and past president of the WCHS, who at the time was the White County School Supervisor. The director was Jackie Stewart, who at the time was teaching at Pangburn High School and is recently retired from the White County Central School. The actors for the production were the 1975 Seniors at Pangburn High School. The setting includes the Pioneer Village, at that time located at the White County Fair Grounds, as well as scenes from Pangburn, Bald Knob, and Ten Mile Creek.
Mr. Stewart will introduce the movie which lasts approximately one hour, and be available for discussion after the showing. The public is invited to this unique event which will be at the regular meeting of the WCHS, 7:00 pm, August 22, in the Dining Room of Harding Place, 801 S. Benton Street, in Searcy.
