Jacob Douglas Armstrong founded Armstrong Springs, Arkansas.(See “Memories of Yesterday” – Armstrong Springs History.)

Jacob Douglas Armstrong(July 1, 1815 – January 19, 1881) married Susan Elizabeth Bullington  (July 4, 1816 – October 10, 1899) and had the following children:

tWilliam L. (1838 – 1850 at Athens, Alabama, of typhoid fever)

tMartha E.J. (October 11, 1839 – November 30, 1840, at Athens, Alabama)

tJohn Carson (c1842 – 1925 at Fittstown, OK)

tJames Benjamin (September 12, 1843 – June 24, 1915 at Searcy) married Nancy Smith (1853 - ?) then Mary “Maggie” Boggs Byrd (May 1857 - ?) c1890.   Children with Nancy:  Avie, Terry Milton, Henry Douglas (1871 – 1915), Zipporah Corine “Cora” (1872 – August 1949), Susan Tabitha “Sue” (1874 – 1909), Sarah Virginia “Sallie” (June 11, 1875 – May 23, 1941), James Nancy “Jemmie” (March 25, 1877 – January 20, 1963).  Children with Mary Byrd:  Magie (December 1883 - ?), Lizzy G. (October 1885 - ?), Oliver B. (November 1887 - ?), Clifton (September 1891 - ?), Lottie S. (July 1892 - ?)

tAlbert Kelly (1850 – ?) married Belle Zora Anne Armstrong August 13, 1874, in Lamar County, Texas.  Children: John Douglas (August 1, 1874 – February 19, 1948), Lula Elizabeth (1877 - ?), Bert Crowder “Nannie” (1880 - ?), Thomas Edward (February 1883 - ?), Mabel Ann (July 1885 - ?), Fred Lonzo (February 1889 -?), Alma Olivia (c1894 – December 18, 1977), Ida Ruth (April 1896 – 1903).  Albert Kelly and Belle were living in south Arkansas in 1881 and also lived briefly in Texas but were in White County when their last child was born.

tAmanda (c1849 in Alabama - ?) married Rogers and had two known children, Eliza and another daughter.

tStraud Douglas (March 7, 1853 – Oct. 15, 1910 at Armstrong Springs) married Mary Belle Wortham (May 30, 1863 – Feb. 5, 1952) Nov. 2, 1881.  Children:  Floy (August 30, 1882 – July 29, 1884), Young Jacob (Sept. 9, 1884 –Dec. 21, 1975), Claudia (Jan. 15, 1887 – March 21, 1889), Rubie (March 10, 1889 – Jan. 28, 1890), Quinton Straud (Jan. 4, 1891 – Oct. 10, 1945), Effie Vaugine (Jan. 21, 1893 – March 21, 1893), Sarah E. “Sadie” (July 1, 1894 – Sept. 28, 1975), Paul William (Sept. 17, 1896 – Oct. 19, 1945), Mary Douglas (April 4, 1899 – April 9, 1992), Nara Belle (Jan. 21, 1902 – August 3, 1939), Straud Douglas (March 4, 1905 – Feb. 24, 1990), Frank Landron (Oct. 18, 1908 – August 1979).

tCarrol Boyd “Dink” – June 30, 1855 – October 10, 1928 at Armstrong Springs) married Ida C. (October 4, 1871 – March 19, 1935).  Children:  Robert L. (September 5, 1892 – January 10, 1933), Alta (March 2, 1901 – 1947), Marguette (1904 – 1906), Bessie Bly (May 7, 190? – January 24, 1990)
