Lula Mae was the third of five daughters born to John
Ewing Cardwell and
Rebecca Ballou Cardwell. She was born on October 12,
1906, in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Lula met and married Virgil Wall in Springdale, Arkansas
in 1926. They traveled with
their infant daughter, her parents and two younger sisters
to California in 1927 to make their home
in the Kerman area. Lula and Virgil were farmers, raising
cotton, alfalfa and dairy cattle. Hard
work and honesty were factors that they based their life
on and that they took for granted. Lula's
life was spent in caring for others. She was the family
caretaker when illness overtook any member
of the family, caring for her father, her mother, her
children, her husband and grandchildren. She
loved having her grandchildren around her. Lula was a
member of the Kerman United Methodist
Church. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband,
James Virgil Wall; her son, James T. Wall;
and her four sisters, Crystal Ramsey Camp, Viola Logan
and Leoma Allen of Visalia and
Marie Von Flue of Fresno, formerly of Kerman. Lula Mae
was also predeceased by her grandson,
John Billy Levi Wall; and great-grandson, Mark Douglas
Tandy. She is survived by the following
family members who dearly loved and appreciated her:
daughter, Betty Arnold of Fresno; daughter-in-law,
Jeanne Wall of Fresno; and the following grandchildren,
Pat Long, Ken Crouch and his wife Susan,
Diane Iverson and her husband Doug, Barbara Tandy and
her husband Michael, Steven Crouch, Susan
Andresen and her husband Emil, Thomas Wall and his wife
Patsy, Amy Ragan and her husband
Tom, Jennifer McPhail and her husband Larry, Mary Rodriguez
and her husband Felix and Michael Wall
and his wife Marie. She is also survived by loving stepgrandchildren,
Paulette Peterson, Linda Wolfe-Vestal
and her husband Paul, John Corbin, David Corbin and Becky
Hinson and her husband Bernie.
There are 35 surviving great-grandchildren and 36 great-great
grandchildren who will miss their
Grandma Wall very much. Many five generation pictures
were taken, the latest at her 100th birthday
party in October 2006. Visitation will be held at Chapel
