Last Will and Testament of Hannah Turney

The following is the will of Hannah Turney. She was the wife of Peter Turney and they were the first Turneys in Van Buren County. They arrived about 1834 with their children. One son, Russell was born after they arrived.

State of Arkansas, Van Buren County, September 18th A.D. 1862

Know all men by these present that I, Hannah Turney of county and state aforesaid, being of sound mind and ---- memory do make this my last will and testament, revoking all others.
It is my will and wish that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid off.

It is my will that my son Daniel have all my household and kitchen furniture with the house I now live in with so much of the land as to enclose the garden and orchard in back to the line.

I give unto my two sons, Russell and William Turney, all the land west of the branch running by the stable, William to have in the fork of the branch and Russell to have his --- west of William's.

All the rest of my land as shown in the deeds to be divided between my sons Henry, Joseph, and --- Turney.

All my daughters to have an equal share of my stock of all kinds except Elizabeth Gadberry to whom I give five dollars to be paid by my executors. My sons not to have any part of my stock.

I have hereby nominated and appointed William Cullum my executor.
