LINCYCOMB

February 28, 2005

I am looking for a family called "Lincycomb". This is my great-great Grandfather. His name was James W. Lincycomb. He is buried in Bradford Cemetery under a civil war marker. He died around 1900 - 1907. He homesteaded an area around Clinton. (Aliquot Part) SE/12 (Sec. Block) * Twnship 11-N * 13-W * Fract. Sect.- North) The contract is dated on or around February 1, 1897. I do know that his wife at time was Harriet Jane Strickland Lincycomb. They had several children and she is buried next to him with no marker and a son Louis Lincycomb is buried beside him also with no marker. (Louis encountered a tree branch while riding a horse, fell and died.) My great grandmother and two of her sisters wrote to gov't agency and had civil war marker placed. Any information, death, birth, misc. information would be helpful. I would be glad to supply any further info. that might be needed if I can. Contact me at swfoster@att.net, I also live in AR. Thank you for your help.

Where is WHITEOAK?

March 10, 2005
Bobbie Woodward
My great great grandmother and her children moved to the White Oak community sometime after 1880 and stayed until 1910. I am trying to locate where the community of White Oak is located. I would like to find out if there is a cemetery there, and try to locate her tombstone. I would appreciate any information about where this community is located from Hector or Appleton in Pope County, AR. I believe that it is close to these communities. I have found information about the New Hope community loacted 3 miles past the junction of the Jerusalem and Appleton road on White Oak mountain. In this article is says that property for the first New Hope School was acquired in 1895 from Susan Williams and remained in use until consolidation with Scotland in 1940. I don't know if this helps with the location of White Oak or not.
Thank you for your assistance.

GOODMAN, MOORE, CRONE, TUCKER, FOWLER, GOOCH

Charlene Fowler Sparks, Alta Loma, Calif
My Gr. Gr. Gr. Grandma Mary "Polly" Tucker Moore, b. @1797 NC died 1859 bu. Goodloe Cemetery in Quitman, came to Van Buren Co. AR in the mid 1850s. Mary "Polly" Tucker Moore, widow of Hugh A. Moore, came to Quitman, AR @1855 with her daughter, Charlotta Moore Goodman and son-in-law Henry Goodman. Two of Mary Tucker Moore's sons lived here about that time, George W. Moore b. @1821 MS and Hugh R. L. Moore b. @1829 MS. The men came by flatboat from Greers Ferry, Roane Co. TN as far as they could before traveling by land. We believe that Henry returned for the women and younger son, Hugh R. L. and his new bride, Mary Conerd. George Moore and his wife, Minerva Jane Goodman (Henry Goodman's sister) had settled in Van Buren Co., AR first and were on the 1850 Census. Another of Henry Goodman's sister's, Nancy Goodman Crone was here by 1860 with her husband George Crone, they arrived from Cherokee Co., AL. I suspect there were other Goodman relatives in the area but I only know of the 3 siblings so far. I would be happy to hear from other's searching my lines. My direct line Mary Tucker b. & 1797 NC & Hugh A. Moore late 1700s Ireland - Charlotta Moore b. 1818 TN & Henry Goodman b. 1815 VA - Casandra Minerva Jane Enterprise Goodman b. @1855 TN or AR & David William Fowler b. 1845 MO - John Henry Fowler b. 1880 Searcy Co. It is a really helpful and beautiful site and I really enjoyed the visit and most especially the Original Grantee's Land, it makes things so much clearer and is such a great help to so many of us wondering about the neighbors of our ancestors. Thank you for such a wonderful place to visit.

Lynn, I am amazed at what you have done with this site. It is wonderful. I also know how hard it is to read some of those old court records. Maybe one of these days you'll run across a record to prove that "my" Harriett's maiden name was Michael.

POTTER, TURNEY, MARTIN

Fri Dec 30 06:56:51 2005
Mary-Yvonne Martin Amador County
I descend from Peter Gideon and Dicey Belle [Potter] Turney through their daughter, Nancy, who married a W. David Martin. There seems to be quite a bit of information on Nancy and her family; however, very little of her husband and his family. Would anyone out there know about the Martin clan?
