Query: Looking for information on David Noha (Nelson?) Brown who married a Martha (Proffitt) Brown in 1876 in Van Buren or Pin Bluff Arkansas. Marhta was married to a Brown (possible Davids brother or some kin) before David. That person is my great-grandfather, given name unknown, birth and death unknown. Martha and David moved to Blanco County Texas after being maried to be near Proffitt kin. Later migrated to Oklahoma, around Coal County. David passed in Oklahoma in 1898 and Martha in McKinney Texas in 1934. Any iformation will be of help about the Browns and Proffitts.

He moved there after serving in Civil War with wife Nancy. When she died, he married a Tolitha Warren. I found a nephew of James JEG Knight buried in Dennard Cemetary with his wife and some children. JEG was born in 1850 and died in 1937. Would love to find some of his descendents. He was also in the Civil War. His father was Reuben Ransom Knight who died in the Civil War. All these people were born in South Carolina, moved to Georgia, then Mississippi and on to Arkansas after the war to get land in Homestead Act. I have much info from 1800, but not much on the family living in Ark.

Sagely and his wife, Lillian Dyer, of Ft. Smith, AR. In the adoption papers, the parents of Josephine were listed as F. Helton and Mrs. Minnie Helton. However, we have been unable to find this family in the 1920 census for Arkansas or any surrounding states. Query: I have in my posession three letters from a Mr. Walter C. Smith. In 1938-1939 Mr. Smith and his family were residents of Clinton, Van Buren, Arkansas. The Smith family had living with them in the thirties, a Mr. Otis Smith. He died in December 1938, and Mr. Walter Smith sent these three letters to my Uncle John Smith in Akron, Ohio. John gave them to my dad, and after my dad passed away, they came into my posession. Otis Smith was my grandfather, and I was wondering if there were any of Walter's family around who might remember Otis Smith. Was he a relative of theirs, or just a friend. If he was a relative, do Walter Smith's family have any genealogy or family history concerning Otis Smith, and could I get access to that genealogy/history? He died five years prior to my being born, and my dad had no recollection of him other than he was a coal miner.
