James Houston RAINWATER, b. April 2, 1832 in Clinton, Ark. d. August 28, 1910, married a Nancy Jane RAGSDALE on Janruary 1, 1865. She died October 10, 1905, and is buried in Bradley cemetary in Clinton, Arkansas. They had six [6] children: John W., Robert Randall, Archie Lee, George A., Alice A. and Henry Thomas. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My aunt Dovie HOOTEN, age 16, and Arkie Brown both drown in Little Red River close to Higden on July 2, 1926. Dovie was the daughter of Benjamin and Effie HOOTEN. Dovie was buried in an unmarked grave in the Colony Cemetery close to Morganton, AR. She was buried close to her grandparents, J. T. BOONE and Louisa BOONE. We want to put up a marker. Steve died in Van Buren in 1923 and is believed to have lived on Kibler Rd. and have been burried in Fairview Cemetery in Van Buren. He was an employee of Falcon Zinc Co. A member of Odd Fellows Crawford Lodge. They were survived by Edgar Mitchell b: 1911 and William Henry Mitchell b: 1923. Catharina is believed to have returned to Dallas for a short time after Steve's death and then returned to Van Buren, Arkansas. Their 4th child was LULA EDITH MCDONALD (b.7-12-1878, McLeansboro, Illinois)and she married JOHN PINKNEY SPARKMAN around 1892-93. He was the son of Mary Edwards, b. 1874, d. 3 December 1948, and James 'Jim' Holland who came to Arkansas from Tennessee. 'Jim' Holland was a Baptist minister. Harve Harf Holland married Paralea(sp) Estelle Brannon. After her death, he married Minnie Mae Russell, b. 4 October 1893, d. 23 July 1981. Would like to here something on the ancestors of Joshua and Judea (McDonald) Pruitt who came to Van Buren Co. Arkansas from Birdseye - Dubois Co. In. He was born in Oldham Co. kY. 08 July 1836 and Judea born in Orange Co. In.10 August 1842. Joshua was in civil war veteran and left Indiana in the late 1800's or early 1900's. They had 12 children. Someone was researching the Van Buren Co. Democrat and found in Copeland , Arkansas where they had celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in March 1912. It said they were grand parents of 69 grandchildren and gggrandparents to 25 and more. My father was one of the grandchildren. There ought to be somebody out there who is connected !!. On Judea's application for pension after Joshua died a P. J. Pruitt of Dabney Arkansas and a M. E. Dean of Rex Arkansas were witnesses. M.E. is probably their daughter Mary E. John STEWART was born in Alabama about 1844. He was conscripted into the Confederate Army. He served aboard a steamboat. When a steam pipe burst he lost his eye and was released from service. He then settled in Van Buren Arkansas. He had one son born in Van Buren, Searcy, Arkansas on 14 Jun. 1864. I don't know the name of his wife. She died and he married her sister Ann. He later moved to Snowball, Searcy, Arkansas. William married Dulcena Melissa CLEMONS, daughter of Reddick and Wealthy CLEMONS,w ho was also of Snowball, Searcy, Arkansas. I am looking for the name of John's wife and any other family.

It is said that they went to Crawford Co., Ark. and settled near VanBuren. I am not familiar with Ark. geography. and that many of their family are buried in the BOLTEN Cemetery. This family is NOT in the Whitley Co. 1860 Census so I assume they would have arrived in Ark. between 1855 and 1860. I need a list of their children.
