Good People We Lost
Dr. M. R. Parks of Formosa returned Tuesday afternoon from a week's visit with the family of T. M. Spencer, former citizens of Culpepper mountain, this county, but who, several years since moved to Krum Creek, Okla. During his stay Dr. Parks said he held a short meeting, at the conclusion of which he had the pleasure of receiving five person into membership of the Christian church by baptism, among the number being his lifelong friend and former neighbor, Mr. Spencer.
A little additional information volunteered by Dr. parks that will be of interest to the many friends of the Spencers living in the county is this: Jim Spencer, the eldest son, is teaching school, having a nine months term at $100 the month. Mack, the second son, was married a little more than a year ago and is the father of a fine two-month-old baby. He lives on a farm adjoining that of his father and, according to our informant, is doing well.
The two younger boys, says Dr. parks, in the statute at least full grown men, are yet at home with their parents, and impressed our informant as being mighty fine young men. Crops around Crum Creek, says the Dr. were needing rain but the land is reasonable strong and fair crops will be harvested. He estimated Mr. Spencer's corn at 20 to 50 bushels an acre and his cotton at one-half bale.
