Most of the site has been updated (almost 600 pages) but I'm still working on census records (455 pages) and will be doing the obituaries (210 pages) next. I think that's all that's left to do. The search engine is only indexing 1018 pages. I hope to have it indexing everything soon.

I've been working steadily to convert all the pages to the new format and still have about 300 to go. I've combined a lot of the pages such as newspaper articles and photos so that the search engine will index the whole site instead of the first 1350 pages it finds.

May 2012, Changed the front page photo.
Crabtree Cemetery, corrected one of the two listed Mrs. Stokley Jacksons. The dates matched for Mr. Stokley Jackson. The stone reads Stokley Jackson. Van Buren County Democrat, February 17, 1933 Edition, There is an article and the headline is "Stokey (Sic) Jackson, age 79, died Feb. 11th." Thus. this is himself, never mind the Masonic Emblem which would not be on a woman's stone. See photos. See front page photo.

I wish to apologize, I am behind in my posting of contributions. The weather has been brutal and inflames some physical problems I have. I have not felt well. In addition, I fell on the ice and tore a muscle in the back of my leg high up, well, suffice it to say, I can not sit for very long to work at the computer. And I lost my two best friends in two weeks. I had known them for over 30 years, they were 56 and 58 years old and left families. Of late my thoughts have been on them. I am making every effort to catch up. I thank you ALL for your understanding.

I updated Butter Creek Cemetery. Added a link to off site, shows the only and new David McAlister Grave Stone.
Update on the new search engine. Yes it is working fine, but is only returning search results that Googles Spider Bots already archived. My latest additions (like the photos submitted by Jo Ann B. a few days ago) are not as yet being returned via a search. I am still researching the Web Tools on google. I tried to get it to "index" the whole web page, but I have no reports on our VBC Google Account that this has been done. I do know, in their TOS, if we use google, no other search engines may be used and I think there are one or two, on the Obits page etc.. Not sure if this is the reason I can not get it to re-index the entire site. (Index or indexing = spider bots crawling every page and following every link on every page, these are archived by google and thus when someone searches on the VBC site, it comes right up in the results.) Google Bots spider just about every page on the Internet. Obviously, I Will keep working on this.
also I seemed to have solved the IE Explorer problem I did have, I had to use a different code for the search engine, is all.
Opps, updated the Queries page(s), we now have 2008 archived. Sorry about that. Also removed spam from the quest book.

We've been experiencing a lot of problems with the old (free to use) "Freefind dot com" search engine. It dropped over a thousand pages per the reports I receive every other day. I tried Atomz dot com, and that reported this web site WAS TOO LARGE and would only spider (web bot crawler) a portion unless I paid a fee. These are the free versions. (We have in excess of 3,400 pages) I am afraid the Free stuff is getting less and less. So I am experimenting with Google.
I myself have problems with Internet Explorer and this new google search engine, (This has been fixed) .
After reading this, just hit your back button to return to the Main Page
I think, you will all like this much more powerful search engine.

We are in need of more Wills and Family Bible records. If you have any you could share we would appreciate it.I have posted abatract.html A "Very" Rough draft of info in a Pope Co. abstract . There was so much really good genealogy info in it. It was from just a city lot and house in the present time. Even if it's only for a house and lot....the old information in it will go back to a much larger parcel of land all the way to the original land grant owner. Please look and see if you have one from VB Co. that you might want to share the 1800's information from. You can either type the info into an e-mail or just scan it and send it to me and I'll type it.
