THOMAS, Frank of Quitman, Ark. was born Sept. 6, 1846 at Pigville, Bledsoe Co. Tenn. the son of James Thomas born at Norfolk, Va. and from there he moved to Pigville, to Cedar Grove, to Kinderhook, Ark. where he died in 1875. Maiden name of subject's mother was Elizabeth Foster. Subject was educated in Cedar Grove, Ga., was a physician, began practice in 1878 in Van Buren, Cleburne and Faulkner cos., was a Democrat, Southern Methodist, was a preacher from Mar. 1872 until present time, and was a Mason. Served in 3rd Regt. Confederate Cavalry from Ga. around three southern states. Enlisted at Walker Co., Ga., Cedar Grove Community, rec'd into service by Capt. Horn, mar. 1862, served for 18 mos. and was sent to prison and stayed until close of war, was in battles at Murfreesboro, Chattanooga, Dalton, Resica, Atlanta, and Lookout Mtn. Married Angelitte Elizabeth Turner, dau. of Abraham Adams Turner and wife Amanda M. Gray, at Higden, in May 1872. "Grandfather was a full German and came to Ark. when his son A. A. Turney was two years old. A. A. Turney was born in 1843, died 1905. His mother was Dutch, born in Holland and married in 1812. Great-grandmother lived to be 108 years old and was poisoned."
