Soap Recipe used in Van Buren County in 1898

Soap Recipet
Take seven and one forth lbs salt soda
Take fore and one forth oz borax
Take two oz sulphate of soda
take eight and one forth lbs good yellow bar soap
desolve the salt soda borax and sulfate of soda for and two forth gal of soft water
when the soap is melted it is done.
Remove from the fire let it stand an hour
Put in tin cans
