Burroughs Family Cemetery

This is an old family cemetary located on the Clifton Chapman farm in what used to be Cadron Township. It is on the Sequoah Ranch Rd. on the land that Nymphas Burroughs was granted, SEC 22 TWP 9 NORTH RANGE 12 WEST. It was sold in 1885 to John W. Sivils, recorded Feb 19, 1885, Bk J, Page 93. J.H. Chapman later bought the land around 1915. His widow still owns it. With the help of Eugene Smith we have gotten the old cemetary plotted out. We are having a fence put around it and having new monuments made.
Nymphas Burroughs died August 1, 1889 in a Little Rock, AR, hospital. They buried him on the grounds. It was about three months before the family knew he had died. He was only 59. I have contacted several people about locating and finding his grave. They have told me the cemetary has moved the graves twice. They have no idea where Nymphas has been put even if there was anything to move. We would like to get him a Civil War marker and have it put in the old family cemetary with his first wife, parents and children.
