Welcome to Van Buren County!
My name is Gina Heffernan and I'm a Temporary County Coordinator. If you have any suggestions or material to share, please click the Contact Me button up there. This site is a proud member of The ARGenWeb Project and The USGenWeb® Project! If you can't find what you need here, check the Archives. VBC = Van Buren County. On this site, you'll find references to townships. There are two kinds of townships. The first is a land-based description depending on where something is located in a series of mostly identical rectangles marked in grid fashion on maps which you can find here on the Land Records page, these townships are numbered consecutively. The other type of township is an area set up for governmental purposes like census enumerations, those townships are generally named. We also have some rough maps of those.
