CORY D. EVANS
Funeral for Cory Dewayne Evans, 32, of Detroit, and formerly of El Dorado, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Union Mission Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Ross officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery in El Dorado under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.

Funeral for Lawrence Edward "Fred" Hill, 63, of El Dorado, will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. John E. Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Community Cemetery in Junction City under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.

DR. GRADY E. HILL
A memorial service for Dr. Grady E. Hill Jr., 79, of El Dorado, will be held at 2 p.m. today in Young's Chapel with the Rev. Billy Smith officiating.

EUGENE J. HOLLINGER
Eugene Junior Hollinger, 81, of Leander, Texas, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Veloz Hollinger; and step-daughters, Angelita Clark and Rita Schooley.
Survivors include his daughter, Georgene Mello; step-daughters, Olivia Dodds, and Julie Castillo; step-sons, Eugene Perez, Richard Perez, and Inez Perez; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.
Recitation of the rosary was held Friday at the Angel Funeral Home.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Paul's Catholic Church (10000 David Moore Drive) in Austin, Texas, with Father James Martin officiating.

MARY W. HOWARD

HAZEL B. MANN
Hazel Brown Mann, 88, of Warren, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at Guesthouse in Warren.
The daughter of Thomas Harvey Brown and Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Thompson Brown, she was born July 15, 1919, in Cleveland County. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Valley Freewill Baptist Church where she served as church clerk, Sunday School teacher, and church secretary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Walter Fay Mann; brothers, Franklin Brown, Thomas Brown Jr., Marion Brown, Nolen Curtis Brown, and Luther "L.T." Brown.
Survivors include four brothers, Dewey Brown, and Jimmy Brown, both of Hot Springs, Donald T. Brown of Little Rock, and Gerald Brown of Blytheville; and one sister, Betty Lambert of Russellville.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Pleasant Valley Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery under the direction of Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Joseph Daniel "Joe" Pierce, 73, of Calion, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.

JESSE A. MOSELEY
Jesse A. Moseley, 94, of New Edinburg, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at Bradley County Medical Center in Warren.
The son of Joseph L. Moseley and Alice Angeline Williams Moseley, he was born Dec. 18, 1912, in Cleveland County. He was a retired employee of Soil Conservation Services and a farmer. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cora Eulalia Parker Moseley; and 10 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Pat Moseley of Sherwood and Jack Moseley of New Edinburg; one daughter, Janis Moseley of Little Rock; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Frazer's Chapel in Warren. Burial will be in Moseley Cemetery under the direction of Frazer's Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

MARY E. MOSS
Funeral for Mary Ella Hightower Moss, 96, of Warren, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Frazer's Chapel.

OPAL K. ORR
Opal Kathline Webb Orr, 92, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was born Nov. 16, 1915, in Hermitage, to the Rev. Floyd and Mary Webb. She was a member of the Assembly of God and a carrier for the Arkansas Democrat for many years. She worked in a defense plant in Fort Worth, Texas, in World War II. She worked in laundry services until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son; her husband, Newt Orr; and her brother, Doyle.
Survivors include three sisters, Aimee Osbon of North Little Rock, Christine Johnson of Oklahoma City, and Fae Rotton of El Dorado.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., North Little Rock.

PHILLIP REDDIN
Phillip Reddin, 58, of Hampton, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.
He was born Jan. 31, 1949, in Hampton. He was a member of Camp Ground Presbyterian Church in Hampton. He had owned and operated Phil's Flowers, a food catering business and several other businesses.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Nellie Tomlinson Reddin.
Survivors include two brothers, Jimmy Reddin of Mabelvale and Charles Reddin of Duncan, Okla.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Camp Ground Presbyterian Church in Hampton with the Rev. Garland Skidmore officiating. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

JULIUS DeSOTO JR.
Julius DeSoto Jr., 65 ,of Magnolia, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007. at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born Oct. 16, 1942, in Minden, La., to Julius Landrum DeSoto Sr. and Mildred Martha (Willis) DeSoto. He was a welder for various companies and attended North Acres Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father; four brothers, Charles Lee, Billy Wayne, Jack Glen, and James Allen DeSoto.
Survivors include his daughter, Mari Plumlee and her husband, Marc, and their son, Aiden, of Ada, Okla.; his mother, Mildred DeSoto of Magnolia; two brothers, Huey Robert DeSoto of El Dorado, and Joe DeSoto of Waldo; three sisters, Jean Keith of Price, Texas, Mary Weber of Fort Worth, Texas, and Martha Cumbie of Waldo; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeremy Horton and Bro. Zane Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia.
Family visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

MARY H. LEE
Mary Hurley Gray Lee, 96, of Fallbrook, Calif., and formerly of Warren and Estherville, Iowa, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007.
She was born March 12, 1911, in Warren, the daughter of Joseph Boyd Hurley and Eula Garrison Hurley. She was a graduate of Warren High School and Christian College in Columbia, Mo. She was an elementary teacher in the Warren area and assisted with youth activities at the First Presbyterian Church. She served as a trustee and elder at the Presbyterian Church in Estherville. She was active in the work of the Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the P.E.O.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Paul Garnett Gray and Robert N. Lee; five brothers, Laurence Hurley, Curtis Hurley, Joe Boyd Hurley Jr., James Edward Hurley and Wallace Hurley; and one sister, Patricia Hurley Roddey.
Survivors include her son, Paul G. Gray of Piedmont, Calif.; daughters, Elizabeth Bucher of Fallbrook and Mary Alice Dunscombe of Houston; three stepsons, Joseph Robert Lee of Huntsville, Ala., James Montgomery Lee of Dover, Del., and Nelson John Lee of Larkspur, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church under the direction of Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren.
There will be a reception at the church following the service.

ALBERT C. BOULDEN
Albert C. Boulden, 50, of El Dorado, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at his home.
He was born Nov. 11, 1957, in El Dorado, the son of Albert Boulden and Myrtis Battle Boulden. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of First Baptist Church on Cordell and was an employee of Pizza Inn.
He was preceded in death by his father and his stepfather, Luther Kirk Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Dorathy Pierce Boulden of El Dorado; one son, Damon Henry of El Dorado; his mother, Myrtis Boulden Kirk of El Dorado; one brother, Jerome Boulden of Houston; five stepbrothers, Ed Kirk, J.J. Kirk, Michael Kirk, Kenneth Kirk and Ted Kirk, all of Dallas; two sisters, Eugenia Ford and Lisa Jamerson of El Dorado; three stepsisters, Rhonda Hill, Andrea Bridges and Veronica "Missy" Willis, all of El Dorado; grandparents, Ossie L. LELUS A. CHURCHILL
Lelus A. "Weechie" Churchill, 93, of Camden, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007.
He was born Feb. 5, 1914, in Hector, and was a member of Cullendale Assembly of God Church, where he served as a trustee. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines. Weechie retired from International Paper Co. of Camden after 30 years of service. During the early 1950s, he played baseball for the original Kraftsman's baseball team. Mr. Churchill was a devoted father, grandfather and husband.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mildred Bowen Churchill of Camden; two sons, Jerry Churchill and his wife, Melanie, of Camden and Randy Churchill of El Dorado; grandchildren, Ashley Jones and her husband, Lance, of Billings, Mont., and Amber Pierce and her husband, Bryan, of Conway.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

VICTOR P. FRANKLIN SR.
Victor P. Franklin Sr., 89, of El Dorado, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.
He was born Oct. 14, 1918, in Ogden, and was the son of Oran Palmer Franklin and Maple Franklin. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He attended AM&N College in Pine Bluff. He was a member of First Baptist Church on Cordell, where he was a member of the Male Chorus, trustee board and the Finance Committee. He retired as an auditor with the Arkansas Employment Security Division.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Theodore Franklin; and a sister, Irene Arvin.
Survivors include his wife, Trevia Clark Franklin of El Dorado; three sons, Oran P. Franklin III of El Dorado, G. Bernard Franklin of Little Rock and Victor Franklin Jr., of San Diego; one daughter, Lisa Harrison of Sacramento, Calif.; one sister, Johnie Cue Blake of Tallahassee, Fla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 620 Cordell, with the Rev. William Jamerson officiating.
Burial will be in Little Hope Cemetery in Spearsville, La., under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.
Public viewing will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

C.C. HINES
C.C. "Cotton" Hines, 81, of Emerson, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Homer Memorial Hospital in Homer, La.
Cotton was born Aug. 4, 1926, in Emerson, to John Doss and Sybil Maurice (Pharr) Hines. He was a retired logging contractor, served in the United States Air Force and was a member of Canaan Land Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James "Humpy" Hines; and daughter, Rebecca Pitcock.
Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Glenva Hines of Emerson; daughter, Denise Williams of Emerson; sons, Steve Hines of La Veta, Colo., Kevin Hines of Magnolia, and Jerry Hines of McNeil; sisters, Mary Bourn of El Dorado, and Frances Greenlee of El Dorado; grandsons, Daniel, Adam, Caleb and Micah; granddaughters, Stacy, Stephanie, Sarah, Melody, Melissa and Jessica; great-grandsons, Trent, Matthew and Jeremy; and great-granddaughters, Emma, Becca, Keisha, Kayla and Lyla.
Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Milford Moss and Bro. Eric Goble officiating. Burial was held in Mount Pisgah Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Memorials may be made to Canaan Land Assembly of God Church.

MABLE B. JEFFERS
Mable Belin Jeffers, 88, of Warren, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
She was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Banks, the daughter of Carl Belin and Pearlie Arnold Belin. She was a SEABEC daycare foster grandmother, a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nolan "Red" Jeffers; two brothers, Carlton Belin and Mike Belin; and a sister, Ruby Rae Belin.
Survivors include a son, Charles Jeffers of Alma; a daughter, Rebecca Lunsford of Rison; two brothers, Carl Belin Jr. of Pearl City, Hawaii, and Carroll Belin of Farmerville, La.; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Frazer's Funeral Home Chapel in Warren. Burial will be in Adams Singer Cemetery near Warren under the direction of Frazer's Funeral Home.

Alene G. Mitchell, 98, of Crossett, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at Ashley Medical Center in Crossett.

Ron C. Murphy, 35, of El Dorado, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at his residence.

H.G. WEST JR.
H. G. West Jr., 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.
H.G. was born on Jan. 2, 1924, in El Dorado, to Henry Grady West Sr. and Jewel Lyon West. He was an operator for American Oil, an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Marrable Hill Chapel and he loved to fish, play dominos, tell stories, and was a woodworker.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Raymond West; and a sister, Lois West.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Van Helms West of El Dorado; a son, Grady "Geve" West and his wife, Shannon, of Prairie Grove; a daughter, Rhonda Hurst and her husband, Larry, of El Dorado; grandsons, Joshua Lee West and his wife, Rebecca, Shelby Joseph West, Andrew Lyon West, and Justin Hurst; a granddaughter, Lacy Matone and her husband, Chad; and great-grandchildren Tanner and Peanut Matone.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Young's Chapel with the Revs. Ben Wasson and Sam Shepperson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

MARY S. DELPHIN
Mary Semerian "Toot" or "Mama Toot," Delphin, 94, of El Dorado, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, in El Dorado.
Born Nov. 22, 1913, in Natchitoches Parish, La., she was the second of five children born to the union of Willie Rachal and Louisiana Severian. She was the owner of Buck's Liquor until her retirement.
She was a devoted Christian throughout her life and was baptized at St. Augustine's Church in Isle Brevelle, La. She was a founding member of the Holy Martyrs of Uganda Catholic Church in El Dorado, which was later merged into Holy Redeemer Parish. Semerian remained a faithful member of Holy Redeemer until her death. Always a firm believer in the biblical injunction, to those to whom much has been given, much is expected, she was driven to help the less fortunate.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Francis Delphin (Buck); six siblings, Magda, Ceola, Willie, Hearve, Dorsey and Thelma; one son, Raymond; and one grandson, Farrell Jr.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Delphin (Adelle), Walter Delphin (Ann) and Wilfred Delphin (Edwin); one daughter, Mary Christopher (Farrell); one brother, Floyd; her grandchildren, Vincent (Chanda), Angie (Michael), Nicholas (Juanita), and Semerian (Esaul) and her great-grandchildren, Richard, Oran, Cecil, Lameria, Isiah and Nehato.
Funeral will be held Sunday, Dec. 9 at Holy Redeemer of El Dorado, with visitation from 3 until 5 p.m., followed by the Rosary at 5 p.m. with Father Gregory Pilcher officiating.
Services will be held on Monday, Dec. 10, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Cane River, La., with visitation from 9 until 10:45 a.m., followed by Mass at 11 a.m., with Father Jacobs officiating.
Burial will be in St. Augustine Mausoleum. The family will be at the home of Richard Delphin, 2125 Gale Place, El Dorado.

MICHAEL L. DOVER
Michael L. Dover, 44, of El Dorado, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at Life Touch Hospice.
He was born Oct. 1, 1963, in El Dorado, and was the son of Jack Lloyd Dover and Judy Dover Key, who preceded him in death.
He was an El Dorado High School graduate and worked as a cook for Betty's Old Fashion for 20 years.

She was born on Oct. 16, 1937, to Eldridge Elihu and Mable Purvis Johnson in Luling, Texas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Scarborough.
She was co-owner of Baker's Pharmacy and a member of the Presbyterian Church in Crossett.

HERMAN J. GRIGSBY
The Rev. Hermon J. Grigsby, 84, of El Dorado, received his heavenly promotion on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, while a patient at Medical Center of South Arkansas.
Born on June 26, 1923, in Malvern, he was the youngest of the 10 children of John Thomas and Zora Belle Burris Grigsby.
Rev. Grigsby, an ordained Assemblies of God minister, had 50 years of pastoral ministry in Assemblies of God churches in Arkansas and Louisiana. He had served his country during World War II as a first class seaman in the U. S. Navy.
Preceding him in death along with his parents were his wife of 51 years, Mildred O. Cotten Grigsby; and eight brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a son, Elvis L. Grigsby (Glenda) of Little Rock; a daughter, Wanda Hubbard (Thomas) of El Dorado; a grandson, the Rev. Neil Hubbard of El Dorado; and a sister, Fercy Nugent of Malvern.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at First Assembly of God with the Revs. Scott Etheridge and E. Joe Wilmoth officiating.

Mrs. Posey was born on Nov. 29, 1938, in Vicksburg, Miss., and passed away on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, in Farmerville.
Mrs. Posey graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1956. She attended Louisiana State University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
Mrs. Posey graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1960 with a degree in elementary education.
She taught elementary school for a number of years in El Dorado and at Cedar Creek School in Ruston.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James; a daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Kent Reed of Kinder, La.; three grandchildren, Justin, Wesley and Catherine Reed; and a son, Ron, and fiancée, Charlene Martin, of Dallas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Llewellyn Rundell.
Pallbearers will be Joe Harper, Stein Baughman, Jim Farley, Billy Shankle, Huey Warner and Charles Causey.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Smackover. She was formerly a nurse at Warner Brown Hospital for 20 years and retired from South Arkansas Regional Health Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Orlin Strickland.

Jareda Evans Lorenz, 87, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.
She was born Dec. 25, 1919, in Haskell, to Dewey Lee Evans and Emma Cleo Lawrence Evans. Jareda worked as an admitting clerk at Union Medical Center and also worked at Sterling Department Store and Philips Auto. She was a former member of the Monday Night Bowling League and was state women's singles champion in 1970. She was a member of RSVP, Senior Citizen Club, Three Creeks Golden Age Club, and Adult Women's Sunday School Class at Galilee Baptist Church. She loved the Razorbacks and loved being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Harry Lorenz; daughter-in-law, Carline Lorenz; grandson, Kenneth D. Millican; and niece, Cheri Hyde Massey.

Born Feb. 8, 1909, in Strong, she was the daughter of Alex and Ella Ward Phifer. She was a member of Allen Temple C.M.E., where she served on the Missionary Society, and as church treasurer and secretary. She was a cosmetologist.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Grover, Gordon, Garland and Burton Phifer; and three sisters, Etta, Julia and Media Phifer.

James Lee "Pluck" Richmond, 52, of El Dorado, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.
The son of Zadie and Gracie Richmond, he was born March 11, 1955, in El Dorado. He was a member of Freewill Baptist Church. He was an employee of El Dorado Paper Bag.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Zadie Richmond Jr.; and two sisters, Margie Davis and Betty Gentle.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Richmond of El Dorado; one son, Jayme Lamont Richmond of Horn Lake, Miss.; two daughters, Emma Chemeika Richmond of El Dorado and Joneice Lashunda Maxie of Crossett; five brothers, Grady Richmond, the Rev. Daniel Willis and Benjamin Richmond, all of El Dorado, Albert Richmond of San Francisco, and Marvin Richmond of Ithaca, N.Y.; five sisters, Gracie Ross, Linda Savannah, Lenora Davis and Archie Miller of El Dorado, and Charlesetta Hunter of Minneapolis; and four grandchildren.

Maxine Rockett, 84, of Junction City, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Timberlane Health and Rehab in El Dorado following a lengthy illness.
Born Dec. 22, 1922, in Junction City, she was the daughter of Auston and Nora Reid Aycock. Mrs. Rockett was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Preceding her in death, along with her parents, were her husband ,Alymer Rockett; grandson, Gary Rockett Jr.; brother, J. R. Aycock; and sister, Arlene Rockett.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Rockett and his wife, Judy, of Warren, and Doug Rockett and his wife, Debbie, of Junction City; grandchildren, Sabrina Newell and her husband, Rick, of Shreveport, La., Charity Anglin and her husband, Chris, of Tyler, Texas, Collin Rockett and his wife, Candy, of Junction City and Derek Rockett of Junction City; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Paige Newell, Auston and Jackson Anglin and Jonathan Rockett; two brothers, A. The son of Willie Shaw Sr. and Linda Faye Levingston, he was born Dec. 3, 1991, in El Dorado. He was a student at El Dorado High School.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Erman Levingston and Marilyn Ann Davis.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Martha Mae Adams Orr, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007.
Born June 24, 1920, in Calion, to Ernest Frank Willis and Dora Isabela Heckford Willis, she was a retired nurse's aide from Warner Brown Hospital and Union Medical Center. She worked as a private caregiver after she retired. She enjoyed reading, dancing and socializing with her many friends in all the activities at Champagnolle Landing. An animal lover, she was a strong supporter of UCAPS and was of the Baptist faith.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, O. D. Adams Sr., Fred Barnett and James Roy Orr; sons, Omer Adams Jr. and John Handley Adams; grandson, William Gary Adams Jr.; sisters, Mary Lou Willis Parker and Lillie Copeland; and brothers, Bill and Alvin Harris.

Melba Frances Robinson Goodwin, of Plano, Texas, and formerly of El Dorado, died on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007.
The daughter of Julius Clifford and Della Mae Walker Robinson, she was born in Winona, Mo., on July 13, 1918. She moved to El Dorado at the age of 3 and remained until the age of 83.
She was a graduate of El Dorado High School. Melba retired from El Dorado Public Schools as the assistant food service director after 23 years of service. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in El Dorado.
She married the love of her life, L.Q. Goodwin, on July 25, 1944, who preceded her in death in 1992. They raised four children, two boys and two girls, all whom survive them; Charles and Oleta Goodwin of Kilgore, Texas, Mary Alice Goodwin Britt of Uncertain, Texas, Lawrence and Jeri Goodwin of Carrollton, Texas, and Roger and Sherry Goodwin Brown of Plano. Melba is also survived by five grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday in Young's Chapel with the Rev. Jim Polk officiating.
Interment will be in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors in El Dorado.

Dorothy Goudelock, 80, died on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007.
She left a legacy of love for her family and a sweet spirit. She will always be remembered as a pillar of strength for her family.

Chuck was born on Aug. 27, 1963, in Sulphur, La., the son of Charles Graham Sr. "Charlie" and Lana Townsel Hawkins.
He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Bearden, and was a welder.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Heavy and Margie Hawkins and Herbert and Norma Townsel.

Born on Aug. 15, 1920, in Union County, she was the daughter of John Edgar and Alcie Jane Hanry Owen. She was a longtime member of Hopewell Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Mrs. Langley loved the outdoors and fishing and gardening were some of her favorite activities.
Preceding her in death along with her parents were her husband of 66 years, Kenzie K. Langley; a son, Kenneth Langley; a daughter, Nadine Owens; and a grandson, Trey Calk. She had six brothers, Roy Owen, Edgar Harold Owen, Willis T. Owen, Albert Owen, Harvey Austin Owen and Andrew Dayton Owen along with two sisters, Idell Oliver and Margie Sutton, also precede her in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Elliott (Josiah) of Pasadena, Md., Peggy New (Jeryl) of Junction City, Mary Pate of Magnolia, and Kay New (Gary) of Junction City; three sons, John Langley of Houston, Texas, Jimmy Langley (Vicky) of Junction City and Glenn Langley (Debbie) of Magnolia. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Donald Wayne McLemore.

Snyder Joe Mack Grider, 77, of Warren, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Southwest Regional Medical Center in Little Rock.
The son of Earl Grider and Elun Beasley Grider, he was born Aug. 19, 1930, in Johnsonville. He was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran and a mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Billie Gibson Grider; two sons, Jimmy Grider and Ronnie Grider; a daughter, Utahna Grider; three brothers, Bill Grider, Floyd Grider and Boyd Grider; and a sister, Marjorie Baker.

PATRICIA W. JENKINS
Patricia W. Jenkins, life-long educator, died at her home in Columbia, Mo., Dec. I9, 2007.

Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Community United Methodist Church, 3301 W. Broadway, Columbia, Mo. Burial will be in El Dorado.
Born June 2, 1930, in Smackover, Pat was a dedicated educator, remembered and loved by countless students, colleagues and friends. She was a graduate of Stephens College, beginning her career as an elementary teacher in Jonesboro. After receiving her doctorate at the University of Missouri, she became assistant director of special education in the Columbia Public Schools. On retiring from the school district, she taught for many years at the University of Missouri, and was the Teaching Fellows Academic coordinator.
Pat received honors and accolades for her outstanding teaching, but the personal tributes paid by parents of children with special needs, and from students of all ages are included in the legacy of this fine educator. Pat gave freely of her tune and talents; for many years she loved volunteering in her close and loyal friend, Connie Gehringer's, second-grade classroom. She was a founding member of Teachers Applying Whole Language, on the advisory board since its inception, and sponsor of the group during the last few years.
Pat was a member of prominent professional organizations including Center for Expansion of Language and Thinking, National Council Teachers of English, and the Whole Language Umbrella. She traveled extensively, including professional and personal trips to China, Ireland and Australia.
Survivors include her beloved daughters, Marsha Braswell and husband, Troy, of Missouri, Shelley Muscovalley of Arkansas, Patricia Roberts and her husband, Jerry, of Texas; her grandchildren Alicia, Alex, Matt, Jeremy, Chad, Amy, Erin, Joshua, and Neal; and nine great-grandchildren.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and James Wallace; and her brother, James Wallace Jr.
Patricia played a lasting role in the lives of children and teachers. She will be remembered as a personal treasure to her children, grandchildren, friends and professional colleagues.

GENE SIMPSON SR.
Gene Simpson Sr., 83, of Pine Bluff, and formerly of Warren, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at the Arkansas Hospice Care Center in Little Rock.
The son of Vertie Vaughn Simpson and Rolla Ann Garner Simpson, he was born Jan. 25, 1924, in Brinkley. He was a Baptist, a World War II U.S. Air Force Veteran, and a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joe Simpson; and two sisters, Louise Simpson and Ethal Simpson.
Survivors include two sons, Terry Simpson of Beebe and Gene Simpson Jr. of Morrilton; three daughters, Anna Freshwater of Las Vegas, Shirley Barton of Pine Bluff, and Doris Tisdale of Pine Bluff; and a sister, Betty Fisher of Carlisle; 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Frazer's Chapel in Warren. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Frazer's Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

ELIZABETH L. BROWN
Elizabeth Laverne White Brown, 77, of Haynesville, La., died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport, La.
The daughter of Hezekiah and Minnie White, she was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Haynesville. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and home mission. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, a nurse's aide and cafeteria worker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; five sisters; and one son, Dr. Willie Brown.
Survivors include her husband, J.D. Brown of Haynesville; one son, David Brown of Mansfield, Texas; seven daughters, Bonnie Richardson, Bettie Ruth Thomas, Linda Levingston, Brenda Bradford, all of Haynesville, Emma Lou Armstrong of Chicago, Minnie Roberts of Tampa, Fla., and Sandra Ward of Germany.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church in Haynesville with the Rev. C.W. Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. A family hour will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Friendship Baptist Church, 1936 Friendship Drive, in Haynesville.

MAURINE L. COKE
Maurine Lowery Coke, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.
She was born Dec. 10, 1925, in El Dorado, to Richard Marion Lowery and Viola May Lowery. She was a homemaker, a former cook at South Arkansas Regional Health Center, and a long-time employee of the El Dorado Golf and Country Club. She was a member of West Side Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Holton Coke; brothers, Bobby Gene, Wallace, Billy and Dayton Lowery; and sisters, Juanita Beck, Wanda Nix, Jackie Ramsey and Gula Bess Goulart.
Survivors include a sister, Lanora Poole of Strong; and a host of many loving relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Rehobeth Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Eklund officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

ERMA L. COLEMAN
Erma Lou Coleman, 85, of Little Rock, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007.
She was born in Vivian, La., to H.S. and Hattie A. Harris Coleman. She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church and a former member at First Baptist Church in Dallas. She was an active member of Beta Phi Sorority in Dallas. She was retired as a distribution specialist for Best Food and Corn Product in Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Anna Rose Tarkington and Johnnie Coleman.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Arlington Cemetery in El Dorado.

The daughter of Sam and Lucille Richard, she was born Dec. 3, 1931, in Strong. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Farmerville. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert Lee Richard and Sam O. Richard; and one sister, Patsy Lee Richard.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Hampton Sr.; two sons, Charles Grayson and Joseph Hampton Jr., both of Los Angeles; three daughters, Wanda Hampton Royal of Los Angeles, Joanne Hampton Crouch of Compton, Calif., and Vickie Hampton of Rancho Dominguez, Calif.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Daryl J. Miller, 42, of El Dorado, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at Medical Center of South Arkansas.
The son of Harry and Geraldine Williams Miller, he was born July 22, 1965, in El Dorado. He was a graduate of El Dorado High School, and a member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where he served as deacon, finance secretary, Sunday School superintendent, brotherhood secretary, and church groundskeeper. He was a 23-year employee of Pilgrim's Pride in the shipping department.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Miller of El Dorado; two sons, Demontras Miller of El Dorado, and Christopher Richard of Sherwood; three daughters, Shantell Richard of El Dorado, Tyronda Richard of Sherwood, and Dominique Miller of Dayton, Ohio; three brothers, Lynn Watson and Spears Watson of El Dorado, and Henry Scott of Beloit, Wis.; five sisters, Jacqueline Henry of El Dorado, Augusteen Bradley of Detroit, Jerlynn Daniels of Bellwood, Ill., and Lula Mae Williams and Betty Scott of Chicago; and six grandchildren.

Born Dec. 30, 1910, in Strong, she was the daughter of Marcus G. and Dovie King Fike. A homemaker, Mildred was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Strong and enjoyed gardening.
Mrs. Norris was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Reed, Louie, and Corbit Fike; and her husband, John C. Norris.
Survivors include Ronnie Norris and his wife, Lois, of Lawson; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at First Baptist Church of Strong with the Revs. Scotty Guillot and Gerald Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Norris Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from noon until service time today at First Baptist Church in Strong.
